Hitting against slider
-
Hi. Does anyone have tips how to hit against slider? Especially right handed batter facing right handed pitcher with slider is just deadly to me. I am way too early and PCI is nowhere near the ball. I can hit changeups, fastaballs, curveballs but sliders give me so much struggles.

Well the whole trick is to sit back long enough for the slider to break over the plate. That leaves you vulnerable for the fastball, and that's why many people who say they're always too early on the sliders kinda give the answer themselves; they sell out too much to the fastball, because they don't want to get blown away by it.

I am iffy with that pitch too. I tend to move the pci towards the sliders breaking point, not its trajectory. For years it's been a habit of mine.

What works for me on sliders (and all pitches in general) is waiting until i see the red seams of the baseball. Once those seams are clear to me, that's when the pitch is hittable.

A hanger's a banger, a breaker's a taker

What he said, I’m always looking for pitches up over the plate (because you hit the most homers with those) and if I see a ball start low and away, I’ll usually take it. Other than that, hit up practice mode against goose Gossage slurves only. I think low and to the right of the ball with my pci when I see sliders
