I remember back in ‘17, only way to unlock the 99 griffey you had to hit 3HRs in an online game with his 92. Then people would IBB you every game
I'm not sure anyone got that done without boosting it lol
The Griffey thing sucked, but otherwise 17 had the best progression. Most programs were a combination of light stat grinding, in game missions, and exchanges. There were programs that required you to play 9 inning games with you DD squad. Plus you had My Career so that every hit, stolen base, strikeouts, etc. by any player counted for something.
Moments would be fine if they constituted far less of the offline experience, but as is they're no less of a chore than 18s immortal grinds.

I feel like moments are actually doable without spending huge amounts of $, compared to MLB 18. As much as I liked 18, I hated having to exchange all those souvenirs.

So far this year's moments have been really easy compared to the last two years.

I have a like/hate relationship with Moments, meaning that I like the rewards you get from them, but I hate hate HATE doing them.
Isn't it just lovely when you need to tally bases, but it doesn't count if you walk, get hit, or reach on an error? Or when you have to hit a home run, but it's on veteran or higher and the player you have to do it with has trash contact against the pitcher? And when you want to reset the game and start over, you can't because it's part of a 3-game set?
Just like @JEEZY-E_PSN said, they're a punishment. I wouldn't hate them as much if they weren't so frustrating.
Walks, HBP, and reaching on errors will never count because total bases is an actual baseball stat that doesn't factor in those things. It may suck in this game but they shouldn't count towards total bases
-
The souvenirs were great actually. I've never spent a dime beyond the actual game and the souvenir exchanges were the easiest part of those programs. All you had to do us buy a pack of hats or whatever, exchang what you needed and sell the rest. If anything it was a super easy way to make money.

Love this thread! Said it once, i'll say it again...they are the bane of my existence and I hate them all with every fiber of my being. Zero fun sir! Give me more stat based requirements like the april POTM missions. I'll do those all day, at least I'm playing an actual game. Moments can take a long walk off a short cliff.

Git goud
Been playing the show for 5 years and other similar ball games for longer if thats the case id be a god by now brother
Then you should be able to do the moments lmao they aren't that hard. Some of them I'll get stuck on for like 20 minutes, but eventually I'll beat them and move on. They aren't that difficult. They're like rookie or veteran difficulty.
Being able to do them doesn't make them fun or entertaining.
Niether are solos in madden or 2k. You do the grind for the cards, not necessarily for the fun, but you still do them because you want the card. It was much worse before moments when you had to get stats with cards and you had to spend hours upon hours playing vs the CPU grinding stats for one card that will hit at most 5 times in a game. I think that the moments are the best solution for mlb to do "solo grinding" for cards.

I don't know if any of you remember what it was like before moments, when you had to play a whole game against CPU trying to get stats with just one player

I love the idea of moments. To me, reliving and playing big moments throughout history and the season could be very fun. Unfortunately SDS has it screwed up because they mess with the sliders to make them more difficult. It has become frustrating rather than fun.

While I agree, SDS also shouldn’t have up the sliders every pitcher is 50/50 ball and strike..of course until boss showdowns where they dot everything.

I thought the bobbleheads were neat and all, but the programs were difficult whenever they were expensive.

I like moments. I also like that they incorporated more grinding missions. I always like that kind of stuff. Pitching moments are my least favorite. They wouldn’t be so bad if you weren’t player locked. I want to be able to control the defense and not depend on dumb AI defense.

Imagine playing a 9 inning baseball game when you play a baseball video game...

Moments I'm fine with if you take away the pitcher and multi inning/game ones.
I rather have pitchers than hitters; have a 90% success rate with pitchers; hitters it depends on luck. When I get stuck on one... multi-games is awful.
Pitchers aren’t usually that difficult. It’a just the stuff that’s out of your control that annoys me. Like you’ll need 10k and no runs given up. You’ll get to 9 and then give up a HR on a low inside sinker. Or you can’t give up a walk and the ump squeezes you, the batter doesn’t chase and fouls off like 14 pitches.

Imagine spending hundreds of hours playing the cpu over and over again just to get one immortal. If you didn't play 17, you wouldn't understand

I played 17 and every year since. 17 was by far the best progression system as I mentioned earlier in this thread.
18 took stat grinds too far, but done right they're much better than moments.

This Hoskins moment sucks.

Moments are awesome, that is all
