Why do I get hit with a loss for this?

I am playing a DD game online, throw the ball to my SS and I have been staring at him for the past 10 minutes. Why is it fair to me that my record takes a beating now because the servers cannot handle simple gameplay? I know that if I reload it will count as a loss, but I wish there was a way for this game to be voided so my record is not negatively impacted.
