Charging bunts

Why can't we react to a bunt attempt (as a first or 3rd baseman) until contact is made?

I see the player square up, and in stuck watching for seconds, instead of charging.

Really good point, should be able to make the move. I’m guessing it would require an overhaul of some of the logic around pre-pitch.

The hesitation was in the game last year on all plays so if it is only bunts that is an improvement. My guy is at SS so I don't deal with bunts.
