Anyone figured out how to get a catcher that actually catches the ball and blocks? I have the bronze slick fielder catcher archetype.. after that there are no silver or gold or diamond archetypes to get a good catcher. Do I really have to grind RTTS to get a good catcher??

Slick Fielder will lead to a 2B, 3b, and SS. No matter what, you get a position change or more options as you progress to silver.

People have stated disappointment because Slugger and Sparkplug don’t lead to a catcher either.

Looking at the speedster archetype and these missions are really hard to accomplish. It’s the last place anyone would look and the archetype is the only one that doesn’t list C as a preferred position. I’m thinking the CAP C is hiding in that path.

I’d be very surprised, I would think someone would have discovered a C build by now even if it was in Speed primary. After all, you only have to get an archetype to gold to discover the DD position

I gave up on it and bought Adley. Pretty much everything I was going to do anyway. Super nice swing too.

What do you mean? I have a diamond cap catcher. You just have to choose the fielding focus build and keep leveling it up. I believe the one I unlocked was called "The Mechanical Man" or something. I used that focus because putouts and assists were easy to come by as a catcher vs other positions.

What did you pick beyond bronze? Silver has no C option... Just curious how to get there...

Yeah. If you guys aren’t seeing catcher as a position listed for it, it might be a glitch. I should note that I started a new RTTS and then told the manager that I wanted to be a catcher before I set up my archetype. I never thought about that before, but catcher appeared as a position for each of the fielding focus archetypes after doing this for me. Maybe try that out? I can confirm that my catcher is a diamond in diamond dynasty.

When you look at the archetype mechanical man, what is the first position listed under preferred positions? Because mechanical man is a SS primary...and that seems to be the problem, as C is still a secondary when used in DD and my guy is still playing like he's out of position, drops quite a lot and still can't throw...so for the diamond archetype you have, under preferred positions, what's listed first?

Yeah I'm having the same issue as you Stiebfan37. When I look at my catcher's stats in a DD game it says I have 91 fielding, but behind the plate he drops more balls than he catches and has a common fielding badge below him. I can't find anything on this issue anywhere else.

In RTTS, they update any archetype to your position... In DD it's locked in to a specific position with no secondary.
That's what I'm coming away with...
    Needs a patch

The good thing is, even with it pretty much maxed, you can only get as good as say.. 91 Mike Piazza with parallels.

Haven't touched RTTS since 2012 but for potentially getting my catcher I'm gonna give this a shot.

I too have to change positions as silver. But I think later on you can change back to catcher, at least I hope. There is no C archetype at Silver though. The game claims that you can play C as a secondary position, but the CAP plays as if out of position.

SDS needs to have an archetype for every position at every level. Perhaps two or three per position. The way it is now sucks.

You activate Slick Fielding (primary is C) to place him at Catcher in your DD lineup...then you go back and reactivate whichever archetype you like best...go back and enjoy your game using your favorite archetype in the C spot...if you remove him from lineup, you will have to redo this process
