Speed lineup v power lineup
-
First off I'm far from a great player. I pretty much sit on a spot for a pitch rather than move the pci.
I've noticed I seem to only hit HRs off of fastballs, and when the wind is neutral or going out. HR's seem really nerfed to wind and offspeed pitches this year, granted a small sample size compared to how much I played previous version. For instance, I'm playing a lot of games against the Giants in 1st Inning Diamond (conquest). My RHP squad is all power hitters, where my LHP squad has a lot of speed. I'll have games with a 12mph wind coming into home plate, the AI will pitch up constantly and everyone drives the ball to a waiting outfielder. I've squared up many down the middle changeups right to the warning track. I play my 50 or lower power speed guys and they get singles/doubles and I score runs.
Did they make power swings more necessary now on offspeed and against wind? Or am I just having a bad luck of games in a pitcher's park? Or is this another year where speed lineups are the way to go?
