Showdown: Batting around the order with runners remaining on base deletes the runners from the basepath

In last years game, the runner that had to bat was replaced with the last batter who got out, but I played a showdown where I got the bases loaded with the first two batters, then when I got to the 9th hitter after failing to get a hit, the next 3 people on base were deleted when I got out, emptying the bases with no hits.

I had a game earlier where that happened! Annoyed me because that took my base runner off third which I would have promptly batting him in next AB to win the challenge.
Sigh
