Baserunning agressiness

What’s that attribute does to players ? At first, I thought it was related to stealing but I am not quite sure now.

I think it's one of those attributes that only matters in sims. I could be wrong though.
You would think it might have something do do with how fast they change direction/if they stumble changing directions or be how the game determines how wide a player rounds a bag, but I don't think it does.

I heard the attribute helps players determining if the ball is hit in the gap or not. I have noticed many times that some of my players have a tendency to not go even if I can clearly see the ball reaching the gap. I suspect the baserunning agressiveness rating might be the cause.

When it was baserunning years ago, that’s what it did plus quality of starts on steals. That’s the part I miss; no matter if you have Brock or Rickey you get those really late, lame starts.

I did a test today with a speedy team while playing vs the cpu. I hit two triples : one with Buxton (mid 70s br agressiness) and the one with Mondesi (high 90s be agressiness). Despite both players having the same speed (99), I have noticed that Mondesi rounded the bases better than Buxton. It’s like Buxton was a little bit slow everytime he changed direction around a base. At the other end, Mondesi did not seem to have that problem. The guy was flying around the bases. That’s why a guy like Mondesi can easily push to third when the ball reaches the gap. The baserunning agressiveness rating is basically the agility/change of direction rating. I will keep that mind in the future. Easily one of the most overlook rating in the MLB the Show series.

That's interesting and super useful if true. I'll try to keep an eye on that in the future.

Great info. If you know how to edit videos and can upload one to YouTube with this described and demonstrated, this would be a very useful clip for new players to learn from. But I’d wait until 21 comes out to see if it’s still the same.

[censored] I don’t even know how to upload a video on the internet. Maybe someone else can reproduce my test and upload it on YouTube ? But you can test it for yourself if you play a game vs the CPU.

Baserunning aggressiveness dictates how fast/effective the runner rounds the bases. Just like in real life, runners approach the bases with a certain angle where they can shift gears quickly, that's what this attribute represents. It has nothing to do with anything else.
You can try for yourself. Find an 80+ speed guy with low baserunning aggressiveness and then compare it with an 80+ speed guy who also has 90+ baserunning aggressiveness. The guy with high BR aggressiveness can stretch a double into a triple and a triple into an inside the parker on a similar hit in the gap, and he also takes less frames to make an effective slide, which can be the difference between beating the tag or being swiped for the out.
