Is Mathews worth it?

Started off 4-1 in the event now I’m 4-7 after a 6 game L streak so contemplating just throwing in the towel. Those that have used him, is he worth it?

I can never stomach event games so I just buy the players I want. Matthews is a base hitting machine. But he has weak power I’ve yet to hit a bomb with him

Have you tried not bunt dancing? If you focus on hitting, you may be able to hit which would lead to more runs scored and more wins.
On a serious note, there are cheaper options that are just as good if not better. Unless you really like Mathews, you’re a completionist, or you are going for event wins for program stars anyway, he’s probably not worth the grind.
I got him just because I always play through every event until I reach the max reward.

I just bought him and only 22ABs but .455 2hr 4 doubles. 1.367 ops. He's worth it if you want to just buy him, for sure. But the event is good practice and extra stubs.
