COD, DDA, Comeback logic...Whatever you want to call it is real & in all sports games. The companies won’t come out & advertise it but it’s there in the fine print. Business wise it makes total sense. If people lose three in a row & then win 3 in a row they’ll keep playing & spending...The goal is to keep players around .500...If they lose 20 in a row they’ll lose interest & move on to other games.
Its the same concept as rubber banding in racing games. Its annoying af.

Do any of you remember the Madden commercial way back when, that lauded DDA as a new feature? It had a father explaining that he can play against his kid, and the kid could hold their own because the game helped them out. It also penalized the father. This was mid 2000s decade (I think).
It's been around for a long time, and EA has a patent on their DDA version. They can keep claiming it's not in the online game, but most people know the feeling. Just thinking logically, it's obvious it has been implemented in EA online games.
I dont think that is necessarily a bad thing. people didnt make a big deal of it then because online play wasnt that popular, and there was always an option to turn that off. Think it was called "fair play" or maybe even as blatant as "keep game close" on some games. But there is no room for it on H2H online games between people.

I miss the fair play option on football games...You couldn’t go for it on 4th down except the last two minutes of the game, no onside kicks. Forced people to play a normal game lol.

Yeah..But it won’t stop any of us from playing. People like to get worked up about it but nobody will actually stop playing.

Some of you can relate with me here. NBA Jam on Sega or Super Nintendo. Even with the golden ball you would clank dunks if you were too far ahead lol. If you were way behind the worst shooter would drain full court three’s.

DDA is the least of your worries with Madden lol. That game is an absolute dumpster fire right now. SO MUCH is broken on that game right now. It’s sad how bad that franchise has gotten.

I wasn't a Madden player. It was strictly NHL with a dabble in a bit of fifa every couple years.

I'm one of those guys that won't be here next year..I'm going to keep my word, I'm over it...but I'll play this game cycle out. Once the PS5 game library expands I'm out

Someone on here a few weeks ago was trying to claim The Show was worse than Madden.

The Show has it’s issues but it’s nowhere near as bad as Madden is now. I’ve played The Show since 15 & I’ve played Madden since 1995. This was the first year that I actually quit playing Madden - It’s absolutely unplayable.

You do realize that Madden is on the PC right ? People have dissected that programming for the last 2 years and have found no evidence of DDA getting applied to online games.
You hate to admit it, but it’s all confirmation bias. All of you are circle j$&(;; each other.
I loveeee on how one poster said “ they have yet to prove otherwise “. That is along the lines of “ when did you stop beating your wife”. It’s on the accuser to prove the defender did something wrong. Not the other way around.
Either way, The Show will be on PC next year and people will dissect it and put this question to bed.
Only reason it seems that there is DDA in show is because of clutch ratings. Which kicks in the last 3 innings of a game. It was posted somewhere the exact times and situations it kicks in. Think of it as Rally Monkey quirk that Machado finest card has.

Aren’t you? When you see blind stupidity. It’s why we have an out of control virus. Tin hat conspiracy theories and just plain old stupidity.
At some point, you just have to say enough is enough and stop indulging the dummies.

Kind of agree with you except I don’t think it’s just confirmation bias. But I feel that you are right overall.
The thing that seems to have been forgotten by so many people all over the interweb blaming the devs of The Show or Madden or COD or any game that has alleged DDA is that we as consumers need to take accountability for our own actions. Not our gameplay itself but our decisions to play the game.
It’s already been said to death on this here forum but what the heck. It’s very simple. If it’s not fun, speak with your time and wallet, people. If you stop enjoying any game, stop buying into and playing it.
Not directing that at anybody posting on this thread, kind of feel like I’m preaching to the converted here. Just joining in the chorus
I do like what you’ve said about the clutch rating kicking in from inning 7. It’s a convenient way for TS devs to deny the existence of any DDA code (which they have) and not have to feel guilty for lying about it. And given that there seems to be a quirk there it means accessing that modifier would be very easy to code.

Guess what, patents exist in COD which nerf you in real time, it's all over youtube go look it up. Like I said two months ago when I quit this game, if you dont think their is an obvious comeback logic//rigging in this game you are a noob who does not play at the higher ranks. COD is a big game, fifa has been rumored to have such things in their game. It might only get worse with all the noobs from xbox joining next year.
This...When I watched DDA exposed on Madden by a youtube user named "yo momma" the bubble burst. How Madden started having partners to help market content. They would even have a whole player profile of all your activity...what modes you played the most...even your "churn rate?" (When u tend to stop playing) Example two losses you usually quit...Ea knows this stuff. That's genius!!! Yet scary.
Long story short. I'm still playing 19. Today I faced someone who was a level 15 bronze in RS. His best player was finest ohtani..his starting pitcher....live series silver Marcus stroman....
He threw complete game. Held me to 1 run on 9 hits with 0 k's.
He had one diamond. Finest Ohtani. I lost 6-1. Granted my opponent only struck out 7 times so I give him credit on that. Been playing the show since 2014 and 19 since it came out. This guy plays for maybe a month and can compete? With a silver live series pitcher?
That might be very appealing to your casual gamer
Nice Try Ramone

EA has a patent for what they like to call Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment (or DDA for short) and they were found using it in online play to help balance what should be lopsided games.
I was an avid NHL series player for years. We in the community always suspected some kind of rubber banding (which we oh so lovingly called 'ice tilt') but it was impossible to pin point and prove. It's more a feeling you get where all of a sudden it all goes to hell. Anyways....
EA was always extremely active on the NHL ultimate team reddit and their reps always denied any form of ice tilt or balancing coding being in their games. That is until the day this info came out. Suddenly the EA reps all became ghosts, hardly interacting and wouldn't ever respond to anything that remotely involved DDA.
The biggest issue I find with this whole thing is that there's microtransactions and real money at play here in the form of packs. I have always been free to play, but the point is you could sink thousands of dollars into your team and have all the highest rated cards, only to have a squad full bronze players win every puck battle, come from behind and beat you in a foot race, and snipe bar down every time they shoot while your goalie flubs every easy shot.
Sure, the better cards don't make up for lack of skill. A top tier player will win more often than not regardless of the cards, especially in traditional sports games where more than just a pitcher and batter are involved in majority of the battles. But those cards should give you an advantage if you choose to purchase them. Having that advantage taken away defeats the purpose of having the advantage in the first place.
On the flip side, I 100% understand the logic from game developers. Having a new player get rocked 10-0 every game isn't going to make them want to keep playing, let alone spend extra money. But if you can have a player with a much worse team keep things competitive against a god squad, you might just convince them to shell out some real world money to buy that missing piece the player believes will get them over the hump.
I get it, I just don't like it.
I've always played Franchise Mode in NHL. I decided to try HUT this year mainly against the CPU (solo challenges) It amazes me how I have a mission to score let say 4 goals in two minute periods, but I can't and my offense is a high 90, and the CPU goalie is a 64 overall.
I've only played a couple of HUT Rival games, and got destroyed each game. I think three games I gave up a total of 25 goals, and scored 3 goals.
