Umpiring in Ranked Seasons Games
-
I do not understand how there seem to be so many umpiring mistakes in RS games.
Do the settings for either player matter in terms of how accurately the calls will be made? I play with mistakes turned off, but this setting seems to have no effect in RS games.
For example, I just played a game during which the 2nd base umpire made two bad calls - confirmed by replay and my opponent - wiping out runners who beat the tag... very clearly beat it.
This may go some way toward explaining a loss of 2.6.0 to 1.12.0.. ah well.
Side note: samsamtheham12 is a fun opponent. Good-natured, friendly... if you get a chance to play him/her, enjoy!

The umps don’t ever actually make mistakes in RS. It might look like the runner should be safe, but in the games’s code they haven’t officially touched or grabbed the base. I know it stinks but that’s how it works. They don’t actually blow calls ever.

Do they have close plays on or off in online?

Bad synchronisation. This is probably the worst year I’ve seen in a half decade for desync. Sometimes the ball actually changes flight path visibly or hits an invisible wall mid play. I’ve seen pitches teleport six inches or more halfway to the plate and the umpiring calls, as you pointed out, have no correlation to events playing out on screen, from check swings, to running the base paths and even simple tags. It’s pretty atrocious and it’s the worst I’ve experienced to date.
