Headliners Packs - at least one of each
-
Earlier, just goofing around, I decided to buy Headliners packs until I had at least one of each set. It took 77 purchases - 231 packs - to finish the set. I had all but Set 14 for about a dozen of the last packages bought. So, 577,750 Stubs worth of cards. After the purchases were done, I had 1,004,00 Stubs left in my balance.
So far, I'm about halfway through the Live Series cards, and my balance is at 1,542,756 Stubs.
Nice when fun stuff works out. It will be interesting to see if selling the rest of the 924 cards acquired will push my balance over 2,000,000 again.
-
I did this a couple weeks ago. Forget how many I had to buy to get one of each. I have gone thru so many HL packs, probably 1.5M worth over last two weeks. And After that, plus buying all the RIB2 guys, and buying Verlander who I will sell tomorrow when I earn him, I still have more stubs than I started with at the time ( I can’t seem to get rid of them
-
I'm sitting at around 2.3M right now.
I've been thinking about trying to get to 10,000,000 just to see how quickly it can be done, but I haven't decided to do it or not do it. Oddly, I really enjoy the Marketplace, finding good value spots that had gone unnoticed previously, etc.
For example, a while back I found a card at Sell Now of ~9500 and Buy Now of ~24,500... that was amazing... turned a dozen or so of them around at 5-figure profits each transaction before the market caught up and the Sell Now price started going up until the margin was no longer viable.

I feel like they gave us waaaay too many stubs this year. Last year was about right, maybe slightly too generous, ‘18 was way too stingy, particularly when factoring in all those exchanges, ‘17 and ‘16 were about right, maybe slightly on the stingy side, but I liked the My Career missions format, it just needed a few more milestones.
One thing I did like was the prestige XP reward path this year. As a high volume player who usually maxes out the XP scale by April, it was nice to not finish until summertime, even though this had the unfortunate effect of rendering the final rewards useless to my squad, as we had too many ridiculous Topps Now type cards with inflated stats by then, which greatly devalues the collection and XP path cards to the point they’re rendered completely obsolete. Hopefully, they’ll dial it back with the free stubs and juiced cards next year so that things have a more realistic value, both in terms of stub cost and improving the quality of your DD squad.

Cant wait for you to complain next year how hard it is to get stubs.
SDS did it just right this year

The only year I complained about the lack of stubs for playing was ‘18. It was a jarring change of direction from the user friendly my career missions in ‘17 to getting absolutely nothing in ‘18 for playing the game. With the souvenirs being an added drain on stubs and inventory, the impression I got was that it was a blatant cash grab, personally, and I said as much. Last year, SDS were very generous with content and stubs, maybe very slightly too generous as I said. This year, we see what happens when that is taken to even further extremes, with long waiting lines of players with 1m stub bids for any and every desirable card. You can have too much of a good thing and this years market is a prime example of just that.

Erm, I had Chipper well over a month ago. I have Alomar, Piazza, Sale, Glavine, actually, I have every card I want in the game and I’ve said so in previous threads. I don’t want Mays, I’m not a fan of guys who played before I was born. I also disagree, it actually is a bad thing when we have a surplus of stubs, as evidenced by this years game.

How so?
I’m assuming you don’t mean how did I acquire the cards, I brought them from the marketplace. Look, I really like this franchise in general. It’s the only game I play. I get no joy from complaining, I’m not a bitter person IRL generally and I don’t complain because I have a losing record or I’m unable to acquire any specific card I want because there is a queue. I complain because I want the game to be better. I try to look at the game from all angles, from SDS themselves, to the casual gamer, to new players and hardcore addicts like myself. I try to not complain about the game because it doesn’t play the way I personally want it to play and concentrate instead on things that are wrong, illogical or badly executed. In a game where balancing is key, it’s wrong to have too much of anything, including stubs. There are pros and cons to everything. This applies in the case of handing out too many stubs too.
Pro:
- No need to spend on micro transactions, DD is almost free to play and build a high level team.
Con:
- Less micro transactions mean less money going forward for new Legends, development breakthroughs and so on.
Pro:
- Players have millions of stubs to buy anything they want from the marketplace
Con:
- A lot of the more desirable cards have waiting lines a month or more long capped at the maximum possible bid. Supply does not meet demand.
Pro:
- Excess stubs mean that players late to the party will have the opportunity to obtain Mantle, Biggio and Sheffield.
Con:
- Collecting the entire MLB used to be a pretty big achievement in Diamond Dynasty, now they hand it to you for free and the cards are inferior to the likes of the 2020 postseason series or the higher end topps now, it feels like less of an achievement, not to mention, a waste of time and stubs.
You need balance, the path they’ve taken this year, with excess stubs and an excess amount of free cards with 125 everything will eventually ensure that the game is nothing but maxed out cards and millions of stubs but nothing to spend them on and it makes precisely nothing in terms of micro transactions, because everyone believes they’re entitled to have everything handed out for free. We already have a situation where people complain that they actually have to play the game to unlock cards, whatever next? Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I respect that yours is different to mine, but I’d like them to dial it back slightly next year.

I've been trying to do that for a while now...No such luck tho
