Here’s how to unlock a different version of home run derby that SDS has included in the game.

1. Go to Diamond Dynasty
   2 Select Ranked Seasons
   3 Choose a stadium, doesn’t really matter but Shippett works best
   4 Select pitcher and lineup, once again it doesn’t matter what you select here
   5 Bombs Away!!!

I changed the title to reflect the fact that it’s not exactly a new mode. I discovered it in early October, but a lot of players have discovered it sooner.

I forgot to add some tips on how to succeed in this mode

Just time up and hit the swing button. It doesn’t matter where the pitch is, eventually the ai will hang one for you.

Conversely, while pitching it doesn’t matter where you place the ball,, as your opponent will swing wildly and eventually the ai will hang one for him.

You’ll notice pitchers have a stat called “ERA.” You can ignore this, as a lot of the top players in this mode have a very high stat here, often double their batting average (which is also very high).
Remember this is a survival game mode. Scores often get into the double digits for both sides. Resist the urge to smash the controller into the ground. Stock up on well rested pitchers and hang in there.

Remember, your opponent is playing the same game you are and both of you are playing against the RNG. It can be easy to catch up, and if you feel like there’s nothing you can do, while pitching, just wait and let the ai throw a few for you. Often this is as effective as throwing the ball yourself.

It’s awful, isn’t it? It’s been the only mode I’ve played consistently in Diamond Dynasty over the years, because it’s the only mode SDS included where I can use the cards I’ve collected to build a squad without limits and play an online game H2H that consists of nine innings, you know - Like actual baseball, the game this title is supposed to be based on. Now they made it play like all the terrible three inning game modes like events, BR and so on. I have no idea why SDS hate realistic baseball so much. If you were new to the game and your view of baseball was shaped by this simulation, you’d believe it was played over three innings with scores of 15-13 every time. It’s an absolute disgrace that this is the best baseball simulation available in 2020. We had better baseball games 15 years ago, with MVP ‘05.
