Grinding toward HOF, just played a classic RS game on AS

Just played a great game with some guy from Guam. Final score was 13-12 and it was back and forth from the start.
In the 6th inning I scored a few and hit a GS with Torre to take a 13-5 lead. I brought Goose in and then Rivera and essentially just tried to hang on as all of a sudden everything he hit fell into gaps of went over the fence and every tough pitch I threw got fouled off, even changeups and sinkers in the dirt and off the zone.
I was 700 he was 650ish... Here's hoping I'll get of of this All Star trap going forward.

I wish the game would alert you once you get matched up if you are playing AS or HOF when you are still in that 700-750 window where it could be either. Picking the appropriate pitcher is crucial as some just do not work on AS but are fantastic on HOF

RS is f-ed beyond words this year. I made WS every season without much trouble since 2018 until this years game. This year, I’ve played 1070 (598-472) games and not reached WS once. This season alone, I’ve played 62 (36-26) games and I have yet to reach 700 rating, having started at 450.
Either I suddenly became a lot worse at the game overnight when transitioning from ‘19 to ‘20 for no good reason, the quality of opposition suddenly increased significantly for no good reason, or it’s a result of the awful changes to gameplay.
Now, just so I don’t sound like a salty whiner, who’s bitter at not making WS this year, I have to add that I don’t care. I don’t want to use a WS banner or icon and I can just buy the rewards from the market anyway. I don’t measure my enjoyment of the game against the result, I can enjoy losing a good game more than winning a boring game.
The reason why I’ve struggled so hard this year, is because SDS have shifted the focus of the game entirely towards hitting. I’ve never been a good hitter, but in years past, I’ve used A-B-C baseball strategy and solid pitching to my advantage. This year that simply doesn’t play. This year has been entirely about rewarding hitting, making sure perfect/perfect gives .833 and a meaty crack of the bat and endless, incessant home runs. I haven’t become a better hitter, my BA is still around .260 where it’s been for years, but I’ve definitely become much worse at pitching all of a sudden. To someone who can’t hit, having your ability to pitch well and play solid defense taken away is a fatal blow. Given the opportunity to look back over a significant statistical sample size, it’s clear to me that pitching needs a buff and home runs need nerfing in order to add any sense of realism or simulation to H2H play, because RS is now a 9 inning BR style mode, where RNG trumps user input.

I feel ya, I started Feller. This guy was a pretty good hitter and I had a pretty good hitting game for me. I just think it's really something that every game on AS is a huge sweat to close it out. It becomes impossible to strike anyone out and there end up being like 3x the hits than normal.
