Why does this Game Reward Early Swings on Outside pitches Constantly?
-
My god this game finds another way to show how bad it is day after day.
Love when my good timed swings are outs yet when I paint the outside corner, my opponent gets rewarded for early swings with HRs and XBH. What garbage.
If a pitch is on the goddamn outside corner and your opponent is early, it’s okay contact at best. But nope, not in this game. Gotta make sure everyone feels good about themselves and keeps playing/spending stubs.
Idk why I care anymore, this game has been going downhill since 17 and that trend doesn’t look like it’s changing anytime soon. Pitching is straight garbage and the hitting has 0 consistency from game to game in RS.
The other day, my pitcher is at the plate and I get rewarded with a single and my pci was literally not touching the ball...yet prestige biggio can perfectly square up an inside sinker with good timing just off of perfect timing and what does the game do with that? Okay contact for a warning track shot
This game makes 0 sense

I have also noticed myself and my opponent getting rewarded for early swings A LOT. Most for dingers which in certain locations seems to defy physics...
-
Bat speed in most cases is higher on a early swing than it is on a perfect or late swing.

Exactly. And I’ve benefited from this directly. It goes both ways. But that doesn’t negate the fact that it’s just another element that makes online gameplay subpar and should be corrected....but won’t be
I don’t understand why SDS is so hesitant to make user input the sole determinant to swing outcomes and pitch locations. Why is that so hard?
So what if people that are not as good at the game get mercied... for me, that would motivate me to spend more time to get better at the game
Since 17, each year the game has swayed towards catering less skilled players by adding unnecessary randomness in hopes to even the playing field and that will be the ultimate downfall for this game

I understand that being SLIGHTLY early and pulling the ball generates more power and bat speed, yes.
But being out-in-front type of early on OUTSIDE pitches should not provide as good of contact as it does in this game.

I get that there’s issues with gameplay but RNG is a necessary evil. I think if user input gave you perfect results it would make the divide between guys that play a lot and casual players too extreme. They need to level the playing field somewhat to make the game assessable for all players.

I can agree with this to an extent. There should be a middle ground
But the way it stands currently, user input is not weighted into the outcomes of the game nearly as much as it should be. I think most players can agree on that

I think if they tightened up input, especially with pitch location, nerfed power some and made line drives fall faster that would help a ton. Also bringing the stat scale back to 100 and not 125 would smooth things out.

Why should there be a level playing field? If your not good then you should lose plain and simple. -

If they made the game difficult to get good input, and then made input the sole determinant, a lot of people would quit due to lack of skill and lack of wanting to put in time to improve.
There would be far less players, far less people buying the game year to year, and ultimately would hurt profits which is what it’s all about unfortunately
-
Exactly, less people playing means they make less money. You’ll see fewer legends and content, smaller dev team to work on updates. If they didn’t do something to even things out the game and this forum would probably be dead at this point in the year.
-
And even though I know and understand all of this, I still get pissed tf off playing this game sometimes.
Just hope that 21 is better
-
Gotta expect them to expand the development team a ton with the Xbox and possible Switch releases. I’m definitely excited for it, also we should get some new big name players to hype up the new player bases.

I just lost a game because no matter where I threw a fastball, it stayed right over the middle of the plate. I threw one that should have been near Torii Hunter’s kneecap and it went belt high outside for a no doubter. Threw one that should’ve hit Todd Helton’s knuckles, stayed belt high on the outer half...then over the wall. I was holding the control stick up before a swing, got a high fastball at the top of the zone, and popped up to the catcher. This game needs to overhaul its garbage gameplay.

So inconsistent! I love calling out these people who get bailed out on poorly timed swings and they wanna act all high and mighty and swear it was all there “skill” that won them the game
then they wanna hit you with the “get gewd” like bruh I’m literally squaring it up what else am I supposed to do??
