I'll preface this by saying Sig Matthews is very good. However......
Chipper is switch which beats lefty, he's arguably better than Eddie, and will eventually have a 99 that's likely cheaper than 99 Eddie.
Brett fills your lefty need, is also good, but lacks some power compared to Eddie.
Your 3rd baseman SHOULD be Sheffield regardless of whatever handedness you think you need.
Eddie isn't worth it per-say in the grand scheme, but if you want to try him out and he's the only card that fills your need and tickles your fancy then give him a whirl.

Donaldson was a 12-0 BR reward.

Mathews is a slightly juiced Gorman and not worth the stubs. Both him and Donaldson are award cards and those prices won't drop until if/when 99 Chipper is unleashed on the market. Donaldson is beloved in the community and I don't see a significant drop with him maybe late in the year if at all.
Brett or Chipper (if you don't mind underwhelming defense) is the call for what you want.
