For me in early July when live series Diamond prices were at its lowest, the total ran up to 700k stubs

Depends on how far a long you are. It's well over a million stubs just for the top diamonds. But it is cheaper than when I completed it a few months ago.

Figure 200+150+150+ 150+150+65+10+15 for all the higher cards the rest at just 5-7k each. So 900k just for top end.
