CAP SS

I've only had my cap at C and RP. I love Biggio behind the plate so I made a RP. Unfortunately my RP has been getting lit up as I get higher and higher in my rankings. Turns out a slow change and a 100 mph fastball with no ability to locate it won't cut it against people in the high 700s and 800s haha.
I know most people run with the balance cap at short but I'm thinking about going with the power build. Unless my math is wrong, he's going to have 89 fielding and 90+ for arm strength, accuracy, and reaction. Because of the 89 fielding, will he have a gold shield or diamond? If it is gold, should I avoid this build? For me personally, I really seem to notice a difference in my ability to hit homeruns with guys with 110+ power compared to 100 or so. That's why I'd prefer this build over the balance build.
Second question. The speed/defense build really intrigues me. Does anybody have this build? His hitting stats would look like Rollins but he'd have 110+ speed and 100+ defense stats. Seems like a really fun build.
The idea of having the power build, Mantle, Awards Trout, and Ruth in the lineup sounds to good to pass up. But that other build seems like a lot of fun.
Any advice?

You can only max out speed and defense stats at 99 and that’s pretty easy to do with good equipment on the contact focus. If you’re looking for the best option it’s definitely balanced. You can get over 100+ contact and power and 90+ fielding which is diamond badge

I use it and it’s amazing. Hits bombs no problem, you’d think he has 100 power but it’s just the contact boost and he makes plays only he can make.
I probably have 10 steals at the most but it’s absolutely automatic.

I never knew that. I'm glad I asked.
So 90 fielding is the start of diamond defense? The other 3 defensive stats have nothing to do with it? I prefer the power build because for me, I see a huge difference in my ability to hit homeruns with guys with 110+ power compared to low 100s and high 90s. I did some quick adding but I don't think it's possible to get 90 fielding if you go power. Tough decision for me.

Correct. 90 fielding is diamond fielding. The diamond badges on player cards are misleading as they take the overall defense into account. 80-89 is gold 90+ is diamond fielding by fielding rating only
