Why does it feel like games get stacked against you when you get an early lead?

It seems like everytime I get a small lead in a ranked seasons game I stop being able to hit and my opponent gets all the late/early hits possible.

Just played a game where I squeezed two across in the third off Felix. From that point on it didn't matter what I swung at or how I timed it. I had back to back Good/14's with Prestige Trout and Prestige Walker, both on the early side of good and both squared up, both end up being lazy flyballs 10 feet from the track.

Meanwhile over the course of this game my opponent is getting early 11/late 10s all over the place. I threw him out at home 3 different times with Mantle and was able to get out of a lot of bad situations, but eventually top 9th he gets an early/13 hit with Yelich then a homerun with Harmon Killebrew to take the lead.

Why does it seem like such a crapshoot over if my connection to my opponent determines if im early or on time or slightly late. How can you justify not rewarding good input so consistently but late and early hits are scattered everywhere. Why is all star so much less responsive than higher difficulties.

It sounds like you're on all star so that invites randomness. More importantly though it that the human brain looks for patterns and often finds them where they don't exist.

I'm sure you have just as many if not more lucky hits when you are winning but you remember it when you lost because of it and forget it when it doesn't affect anything

Online is a joke. Has been for weeks. I'm taking a break from it. SDS has a pretty awful server infrastructure. On top of Sony cheaping out on their [censored] NIC cards. Bad combo to those of us that want it to work. I keep seeing RNG as the main excuse, but I think it goes deeper than that.

Long story short: I was up 7-3 in the 9 inning Hall of Fame Ruth program game. 8th inning, I had 5 outs to go. Suddenly couldn't get 1 guy out. Lead blown, lost 8-7. Three days later I'm still not over it lol

I’ve been saying this, wish they got it right. This game has been so bad all year. I thought it was getting better but ranked and all star difficulty has been [censored] lately

Spot on. I have become fairly accurate at predicting results for online games when I get a lead. I swear it seems there is some sort of competitive balance built in. And you shouldn't be able to hit better on HOF than AS but in this latest event that's what is happening to me. I don't get it.

Well baseball is a sport where just one swing of the bat can change everything. So even with a comfortable lead you can’t take your foot off the gas pedal until the final pitch. pitch every pitch and swing every swing like it’s still a tie ballgame.

Online is the black sheep of this game. Everything else is a 10/10, from updates, content, in-depth IE, events etc.

But man online is TRASH! Won 2 games earlier and I knew I should've just quit while I was ahead.

Played 2 more and got shelled one game, and RNG'd to death the other. Nothing worse than squaring up balls with 125 Power guys to fly out while little Timmy hits bombs with his CAP.

I might have to try this theory out, if I give up a homer in the first I quit, I usually quit if I give up a run period because my hitting is so bad I figure "that's game" anyhow. I'll see if I can start to hit or even pitch better after I give up the first runs as I usually do. My record is 58-261 so it really doesn't mean much to me. The closest I've been to 500 in ranked was 498, whenever I get within a game of 500 I always far someone with Mantle, as soon as I see Mantle I figure my 2 month playing azz aint beating someone that's divested that much into this game. Makes sense right, I know in order to get better sometimes you have to suffer but if I can't make it through the first I don't wanna be run ruled out.
