Diamond player icon??

I have HRD Ripken and says he has diamond defense but his icon underneath him is gold. How come??

The shield on the attributes screen is based off of all defensive ratings. The shield in game is 90+ for diamond, 80-89 for gold, 70-79 for silver, 60-69 for bronze, and 59 or lower is common.
