Spencer Torkelson got his first start in intrasquad game today with the Detroit Tigers. He’s on the 60 man roster. Usually I would say this stuff isn’t possible, but SDS definitely has his rights and Covid has changed everything. They have a deal with MLB, MiLb, and Topps trading cards.

I see no reason they can’t add him this year. It’s a unique year. Even if some of this year’s rookies are just on the taxi squad and won’t make appearances, I still think SDS can add them if they choose to.

Imagine a future stars Spencer Torkelson, yes please.

Do you want the Tigers, who are clearly multiple years away from seeing the other side of this rebuild, starting his service time now, without a single minor league game?

    I don't think that's a great idea.
And I can relate with Austin Martin and the Jays.. as cool as it would be to see him up, no way I want them to start the clock and burn away development time

I should have been more clear. Haha. I was referring to this game. Will we see like the top 10 (or so) picks make an appearance in the Show this year. A lot of them are on their team’s taxi squad.

Honestly for a long time, Austin Martin was considered to be in play at #1 to Detroit. You guys got a good one. Surprised he slid a little. He’s projecting to be great.

Under normal circumstances no you wouldnt want to waste service time but the issue is now there is no where for thses kids to play and develop so now MLB teams have to weight service time or loss of a development year. Teams may just say we need this guy in games and playing so let's give him a shot.

What is funny is they have all these prospects and future stars of players who have never been in the majors and possible some may never make it, but they can't add Shogo Akiyama until he plays in the majors, IDK.
