Another previous card. Gotta skip a year on some of these guys and license for some new dudes. Gets pretty boring year after year. It’s ok to skip Gary Carter for a year to get some new blood.

1996-97 Todd Hundley?
Don’t think he wore stripes. I am pretty sure it’s Carter.

Love how Travis d'Arnaud is the player on the scoreboard. With that hair, I'm thinking Piazza.

It's clearly an 80's Mets jersey.. which means Carter.. Piazza played late 90's early 2000's for the Mets.. he also never wore high socks

Yeah, thought about that, but thinking that they could change the uniform. And Carter's best Mets year was arguably 86, which we already have a Gold card for. Have they had a higher rated Mets' Carter in the past?

Could still be an expos version. They showed a Phillies McCutchen and gave us a pirates version.

Gary's best Mets year was easily '85..
But his best year career wise was '82..
It could be a prime version of him, which was really '82-'86... -
Because he won a title in '86 I suppose that's why they go with him as a met... But he IS an expo.. it's what he went in the hall wearing..

Na.. his heart was in Montreal. They absolutely love him there.. greatest expo ever.
Unlike Vlad, who they also love, but he chose the Angels anyways. Montreal was dead during Vlad. It was nuts during Gary -

It was nuts during GaryIn 2003, catcher Gary Carter had to choose between the Montreal Expos and New York Mets. Carter played 11 seasons with the Expos and five with the Mets. Montreal no longer has a team and Carter felt connected to the Mets because he played on their 1986 World Series title team. But the Hall said he had to go in as an Expo.

Yes, but it was mostly because the Expos were no longer going to be a team, is why he felt that way. He felt his best was with the Expos (it was by a lot) and he even retired there in his final season.. By the time his induction came up, the Expos were a joke, who had just been sold to the league by the worst owner in sports.. Jeffrey Loria.. nobody wanted anything to do with that team and it's filthy park.
Sidenote: how the league allowed Loria back in with Florida is mindboggling.
