I look at it like this:
No one is entitled to have every card in the game.
You say you hate playing online (meaning H2H). There are many others who hate playing the CPU; they hate conquest and they hate moments.
Think of how many cards are tied to Conquest and Moments? If the guys that hate playing the CPU want those cards, they have to suck it up and play the CPU.
The flip side of that is, if you want Prestige Diamonds, you have to suck it up and play H2H.
Of course, you could forgo those Prestige Diamonds, and just enjoy the game modes you prefer.
I say this with all due respect. I’m not trying to be a [censored] about it at all. I’m one of the people that hate playing the CPU, and I would complain about having to do so.
But I finally accepted that there are cards that I just won’t get, because I don’t like Moments. It’s simple as that for me.
I hope you find peace and enjoyment with the game, bro.
There's a big difference between offline only and online only content. The online only content is usually some of the best in the game (think Ruth last year for example). And, I'm ok with this as that is where their core players (and money) come from. I just don't think it's a 1-1 comparison like you're making it out to be.
Also, for offline only players, it's not just a matter of "sucking it up" for some of us. Between my DSL connection (I live in the sticks and don't have access to cable), and my aging eyes/reflexes, I can't hit online. Yes, I do avoid it because of the morons, but I also avoid it because I tend to strike out or get weak contact every AB.
I'm not too disappointed with not being able to do prestige. I just hope that I will have a chance to get this year's Ruth.
I hear you. But maybe you can help me understand something. Serious question(s) here:
If someone doesn’t like playing other people, and prefers to just play against the CPU, why play Diamond Dynasty at all?
All the cards available in DD can be used in Franchise Mode. You can literally put any player you want on your team. You can even edit their attributes and “prestige” them in a matter of seconds.
You can choose difficulty level, you can adjust sliders; in short, you can customize every aspect of the game to make it the most enjoyable for yourself. So if someone likes playing the CPU, why go through all the trouble of DD at all?
I get you are asking a serious question here, but man does this seriously discount nearly everything about the mode that is attractive about the mode. Yes, playing the game is fun, but to me, collecting cards, completing programs, collections, working the market to name a few of the things that provide a sense of accomplishment is why cpu people play.
I have said before, I would personally be fine if they had two sets of cards if you wanted to play pvp or cpu only. Understand that will never happen tho.
So it’s the collecting part that people enjoy. It isn’t that the card you earn will improve your team, it’s that collecting a card provides a sense of accomplishment. Ok. I can understand that.
What I don’t understand is, you feel less accomplished if you don’t get every card?
I don’t know, bro. That kind of sounds like a personal hang up. I’m not discounting the way you or anyone else feels about it. I’m just saying that at some point, we have to accept that we aren’t going to get every card.
That is the downside of them releasing more and more cards and more and more game modes and more and more content every year. It makes it near impossible to accomplish everything. And people with the 100% completion, OCD type of thing when it comes to gaming are going to be disappointed when they can’t get everything.
You are hitting on two things at the same time. 1. There isn’t a mode vs cpu where you need a god squad to beat it with your own team, which we have been asking for (ala turn on ranked seasons to cpu controlled dd teams like they used to have, or event type of mode). 2. It isn’t that I would want to prestige EVERYONE for a completionist thing, but like as a Braves fan, would love the option to do chipper.
Ultimately now is miles above other years and SDS won’t please all, so just mild complaints
Try playing Extra Innings against other user teams at the highest difficulty levels and you will want the best available. While these games add nothing to DD progress they are the most challenging way to play - probably even more than online.
If SDS would start to creatively include the Extra Innings games into DD progress it would open up a ton of offline options.
Probably won't happen as we are playing repetitive Moments where base runners magically appear when the pitch count is at zero. Not much of an effort by SDS.

You are right about the original point, but I think I kinda went numb in that regard when for 19 when they also said a similar thing and then put exclusive online rewards.
I will try that extra innings tip and see what's what. In a prior post, I wish they would implement this type of thought into making it at least progress stats in DD if not even create a mode around it.
Edit: when I say rewards, I mean programs that could only be completed pvp.

I don’t get why you cannot use Extra innings games into TA grind. Only XP is gained from it which seems odd am I wrong? I am kinda tired of playing the MLB teams over and over

I get playing offline, I do it all the time, it’s a means to a better team, but for online. What’s the value of a blood diamond against the CPU, besides just having it. The attribute boost is nice online, however I can’t think of a mode it would matter otherwise. Don’t get me wrong, I probably play more off than on, but I see it as something that should be exclusive and rare.

@last_mohican18 said in Why are Prestige cards tied to Online stats?:
No one is answering the basic point of the OP - developers promised everything would be available through offline play but obviously that is not the case. It would be interesting to hear the reasoning from SDS.
They want people playing online. The same reason they said you could get all the immortals in 18 without going online, then made online a requirement for Musial in like June.

Boosting other stats, not just TA, but many games previous had missions that people would collaborate on. Still happens, but they try to make it more difficult.

They genuinely don't care about singleplayer DD. If they did, they would have done something about the abysmal list of uses for our card collections by now. I don't personally care about prestige cards, I just want meaningful 9-inning games to play.

Because offline, you can just abuse the stats and prestige over night.
I like that it’s online only. Makes it more special.
Honestly don’t understand why anyone would even play diamond dynasty if you’re not going to play online.
What’s the point in building a team for offline? There isn’t one.
It’s not about building a team, it’s about liking to complete things in a stress free setting. This game used to be fun to grind offline for people who didn’t want the stress of online play. It was like an RPG but with baseball. That is what got me into DD in the first place. Last year took that away and solidified the Madden concept of online players are all that matter.
-
I think they have a simple way to give offline players a way to "Prestige" their cards... just make it so the stats only accumulate on All-Star difficulty or higher.
The whole "Prestige" thing in this game is very inconsequential as it's just a +3 boost to each individual attribute. It's not like anyone is complaining about it being OP. I just want to be rewarded for sticking with cards offline too.

@ayman718 said in Why are Prestige cards tied to Online stats?:
Are you that scared of playing online? Geez, you can rack up stats pretty fast playing event games
Oh yeah, getting 100 + hits with roberts and victorino is so fast.
