Been doing a lot of purchasing lately and I’ve haven’t seen the sports card market as healthy as this in the last 20 years. Cards are going for a premium across the board. Started about a year ago and it’s been steady climbing. Pre WW2 cards are seeing a big jump, Post WW2 cards are maintaining. Even cards from the 80s are starting to be worth a little with everyone busting old wax packs searching for gem mint cards to send to PSA. Basketball cards (especially Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Giannis, and Luca) are bringing in absurd sale prices.

The modern market is booming In baseball cards. Cards are pulling down historic sale prices. There is a Mike Trout auction right now on eBay for his first bowman auto that’s going for like 38,000 dollars with an hour remaining. That’s just an example.

Feels like there is a renewed interest in the hobby lately.

Yeah it's been great to see. Baseball cards have been rising in popularity ever since 2017 when the Judge and Bellinger rookies jumpstarted modern cards again.

I can definitely see the popularity rising as well. I always liked cards but was never big into them until 2018. The emergence of Acuna as my favorite player in MLB really drew me to his rookie cards that year. Since then I started buying boxes and building the Topps flagship and Chrome sets while chasing rookie hits and numbered parallels.

I love to see this and glad it’s rebounding well. I still think there’s too much product out there. I mean, Topps with the sole baseball license and they come out with so many different sets. It’s just the same stuff repackaged half the time.

There’s definitely a lot of product out right now. I personally just focus on the main Topps flagship products (Series 1/Series 2/ Update Series) and Topps Chrome. Those are good quality stuff. The other “niche” products can be cool too. I’ll buy a few one offs of Topps Heritage because it’s cool to see modern players printed in the throwback styles.

I started collecting again for the man cave and framing it. I only go for Flawless Autos. All autos have to be signed on the card, no sticker.
