most unrealistic aspect of this game is the fact that a right handed hitter can hit a 97+ mph fastball on the outside corner to left field. Anyone who has ever played baseball or watches it knows that if anyone ever did that they would literally break their bat and hands. So unrealistic!
The more frustrating aspect is, as a hitter, you should be trying to be a bit late and rock that bad boy oppo field...nope, Foul Ball Every time. Especially when you're trying to hit against the shift. But throw one Sinker low and away to Charlie Blackmon and you know [censored] well he's roping a liner down the third base line.
-
All I have to say to OP is pick a number. Nothing in this game is realistic. If you’re frustrated about hitting, you should frustrated at pitchers hitting 102MPH for 120 pitches, starters coming in as relievers constantly, starters being able to pitch every third day because stamina regen sucks. If you want real baseball, you’ll have to pick up a bat and head to your nearest field.
This is an arcade game at best.

Lol it is most definitely “possible” to pull an outside pitch at any level. I.e Anthony Rizzo. Now pulling a 440ft homer on an outside pitch is a different story. Depending on the guy. There’s definitely a gray area to this comment.
-
Yah I'm sure people thought it was impossible to hit 100mph fastball 20 years ago too. They were wrong.

Mike Trout pulls homeruns on the outer 3rd of the plate but we got guys on here saying "Trust me, it is impossible, i play baseball"

Can you give us an exact time of the video where he pulls a 97+ fastball on the outer third of the plate for a homerun to left liefd? This is a compilation video.
-
Guys make their careers on pulling outside pitches by crowding. Rizzo is a great example.
Jose Bautista is another. In his prime he could turn on anything inside with an insanely fast bat, so he would crowd the plate and smash outside pitches, adjusting to inside pitches or letting them go -
Lol that video was a breaking ball low and middle, terrible example.

He doesn’t. The one that’s close is like the 4th or 5th vs Seattle. Most of the others are all breaking balls

Yeah I saw that too that's why I asked. Not a small detail that he chose to ignore though lol.

Yeah there’s that and the fact that he chose one of the greatest baseball players of all time to prove a point

My point is, it is 100% possible to pull an outside fastball. It may not be in the video, my apologies.

Okay thank you for sharing a useless video in this debate then and proving absolutely nothing.
Edit: OP was very specific about the details. 97+ mph on the outside corner pulled for a homerun to LEFT FIELD. Show me a video of anyone doing that.

We’re not arguing that you can pull an outside pitch. Of course thats possible. But to pull a 97MPH outside fastball and hit it 400+ feet is a different story

Ok ya, that would be very hard. Not impossible if you were crowding enough, but definitely tough to do. It would be more dead centre on a 97+ fastball for sure

i dont recall a sing outside fastball getting raked to left, its mike freaking trout he went the other way with it.
-
Ok most of the videos I’ve seen they are hitting off speed pitches. Why do you think the fastball is thrown outside because it is exceptionally hard to pull with any power.
-
You can hit any pitch anywhere, physics tells us that it is possible. No matter how far outside the pitch is, if you can reach it with your bat and swing early enough, you will pull the ball. Now it gets more complicated with how far the ball will go because you are assuming that a player may be off balance to reach for such a pitch, thus generating less power than he otherwise would keeping his body centered.
