It random not really a game of skill. That’s probably why the gameplay gets a lot of slack.
Enjoy DD while you can. I bet it doesn’t last past 2021. With their packs the way they are they don’t make enough money survive the unethical business practices lawsuits theyll be hit with. Maybe they’ll keep road to the show and franchise. Maybe.
I would agree, but I can't. If they do, they would have to find a way to make money. DD is how they make money, via stubs. ALso, I would think that if they do something, they will o it next year, when they expand to X-Box and Switch

The Simulation seems to take over the game.
The RNG is frustrating.
What is RNG?
Random number generator. Like a slot machine. It’s the hitting system in place.
Do people use that abbreviation as a joke to mock SDS or do we know that this is actually the hitting system in place?
All video games run on random number generation. It's the equation that decides what outcomes will happen. Basically when you swing at a pitch it's like pulling lottery balls, they throw in hitter stats with pitcher stats, and what you pull out is what happens.
There are definitely issues with RNG in this game, some people accept it, while others blame it for all their problems.

I understand. But it's definitely not 100% randomized. It matters where you place the zone.

It does. There is some element of luck involved, especially on lower levels. There are times perfect swings aren't rewarded, and there are times swings with the ball out of the pci that go for home runs. But these get exaggerated on both sides.
I promise you, if I just leave the pci dead center and swing wildly I won't be successful.

That’s why the crybabies post their complaints, to help SDS fix the issues. If we all just accepted the game as is every year, there wouldn’t be much incentive for SDS to put out something better.

Playing online, there is hardly any skill involved/needed. What’s the point of pci and perfect pitch releases if the ball is thrown down the middle and if you can hit homeruns on pitches where the pci isn’t even on it. Yet you can get perfect perfect fly outs all the time. It’s not fun playing a game where you have no control over it
I played yesterday hit a perfect/perfect with a right hander and was a Warner track fly out to right center. I looked at the pitch and was low and away fast ball. Now many batters have opposite field power. So even though it was perfect/ perfect was was a perfect hit for that pitch and location. Not every hit can be a home run. No need to complain all the time just have fun with the game.
I think you would be surprised at how many people could take losses if they thought the game play was fair. Match me up against players with similar ping and if someone can beat me 10-0 congrats! More than likely an opponent with similar pings my user input would match the result. With the connections and matchmaking like they currently are it is difficult to get excited about winning a game 10-0. Was my opponent seeing the 120 mph sinkers that I see a lot? Was he getting good input for pitching and the balls going no where near where they were putting them? That is what comes to mind when I win.

Its not really an issue though. The game is going to have RNG. This game is chalk full of real issues, bad players on all star hitting the occasional home run with less than perfect pci placement is sooooo far down the list.
I'm fine with people bringing it up, just not over and over again whenever they lose a game.

The main issue is the community. So many want to blame the game when just aren't as good as they think

Very true.

It’s the time and money people put in. There is no reason to act the way some people do but when they’ve played for 3000 hours a year for years or spent 1300$ a year for just as long they feel differently. And it’s BOTH sides. There is almost no middle ground in this place, you hate it because you wasted a lot time on and for some reason haven’t achieved fame or a miliion dollar a year Faze contract, or you’ve become emotionally attached because it’s been sooooo long and refuse to see any faults even if no other games have them.
Nobody seems to ever want to talk about how to improve the game. You have great players that want more user input, lesser players that want slower pitch speeds, and NOBODY in the middle saying “why don’t we slower pitch speeds, increase user input and adjust the PCI size until SDS gets the data numbers they want”
-
Some issues
-
The lack of grinding for offline players. Give me some stat grinds, even if we've got to get more than online stats. I'd be cool with it.
-
The CPU at times being a cheating goober. Perfect/Perfect results in a double play twice in one game when I have the go ahead run on 3rd? The CPU sends my guy on 1st in a steal attempt the same time as a pitchout? CPU batters getting a massive speed burst at times? Yeah, the computer can be a cheating goober at times.

For me personally it’s that I’ve been playing for 5 years and have never made World Series. Every single month I reach 875 but then every single time I get matched up with a top 50 player and lose. I keep thinking that eventually I have to get matched up with a normal good player & sneak in...NOPE. 5 years and am just denied every month. This is the first video game that I just cannot reach the top of the mountain on and it just drains my energy & my will and makes me extremely depressed. Every other game I play I have fun & enjoy myself even if I lose. My inability to reach WS for 5 years has caused this game become a dreaded chore instead of an enjoyable experience.

They are never going to be able to please everyone. They tell us they want realistic numbers, but that's just not possible. If you tune it to keep the top players numbers down, you have everyone else hitting .200, not realistic. If you tune it to help the bad players then the top players hit .500. At the end of the day top players are going to score 10 runs a game regardless, bad players are going to get lit up regardless.
They should be tuning the game to the average player, the guy that sits between 600 and 800 on RS. Thats where the vast majority of online players sit.
-
- The hitting is wildly inconsistent, which does hint towards RNG. Too many good swings with balls down the middle that are pops, what determines this?
- Pitching seems to use that same RNG for the most part, when the AI wants to come back in a game your pitcher just loses all control until you place one close to the middle where they can blast it no matter who's hitting
- Server errors, too many. I had to delete and reinstall the game twice
-
This game has been good so far. There are just so many negative people in the community that expect the game to be perfect. The content is better, gameplay may be worse but it's not as bad as people make it seems like. My main problems: Pack luck is rigged for me, good-okay fly balls, good goods aren't good, and fielding (which has gotten better). Content has been out of this world amazing. New headliners TWICE a week. Prospects and future stars. Not only signature series card! Sick card art! I think this game hasn't been bad. The miserable people in the community that grind the game 24/7 want it to be perfect because this game is the center of their lives.
-
I don't expect perfect, I expect at least on par with last years game.

Many, many issues with this game are connection related. This includes the ridiculous averages that these top players have. You want to level out the playing field? Put in ping indicators and ping based match making and these top players will not be hitting .400. I will tell you a big difference between a top player and quite a few other players.
Most people have the games where 100 looks like 120 and sometimes it looks like 90. What if almost every game you played looked like 90? Do you think your average and record would be much better? Of course it would. Welcome to the world of the top players. Everyone says top players are always top players. Of course they are, they never change their internet and SDS continues to use the same out dated things for match making. Have pitching_rebel move to Kansas City and get a wired fiber connection. I will not say he wouldn't be good because he would but I would bet my house he wouldn't have a 150-8 record (or whatever the hell it is). How good would your record be almost every game you played was one where 100 looked like 90? I know mine would.
Some people won't know what I am talking about since their game appears the same every time. People that see the 120 mph fastballs know exactly what I'm talking about.
-
I'm actually on board with that to an extent. Its pretty clear to me its a connection/latency issue. I'm tired of having to swing the bat before I know what pitch is coming just to have a chance of being very late on a 95mph fastball.
