So after playing a ton of games here is what I am seeing

Just got back from a forum "vacation". lol
So after so many games I am seeing a trend. Have you ever had the following:
-pitches seem faster than normal (turn on one game, way behind in another)
-fielders making errors
-baserunning(poor response)
-unable to pitch to corners (pitch is either a ball or right down the middle)
-good/good, good/squared or perfect/perfect resulting in fewer hits while opponent gets more hits on good/okay or weak contact. It is blatantly obvious to me that these are connection errors. As I have said before, I think really low ping or really high ping is a huge detriment in this game. Now, I don't have access to these numbers but I tend to get matched up with a ton of people with New York, Boston, Florida and Chicago names. I live in Kansas City and have google fiber. If these people are in these cities which I suspect most are, why am I getting matched up with these people? I have more than a few friends on my friends list who live in Florida. My company has offices in New York, Chicago and Boston. I know for a fact all these places have less than stellar internet. I also tend to get smoother games from my mobile hot spot. I still get the issues above just not as frequently. I know in PUBG my mobile hot spot ping usually hovers around 70 as opposed to usually sub 30.
Now, you will never convince me that SDS coded Trout, Buxton, etc to have balls hit off their head. Cruz and JD Martinez probably yes as they are horrible defensively. This is a huge reason I think the issues people are seeing are from connection issues. Therefore, as I predicted last year these issues will continue to be prevalent if there is no ping indicators and ping based matchmaking.
I have stopped caring about playing this game competitively and have been enjoying the game much more. I still see these issues in the 400-600 rs range but it gets significantly worse once I get over 800 these problems occur much more frequently. You can say the competition gets tougher but what I noticed is the main difference is these people will hit the balls right down the middle and get more hits on good/okay. They are just able to take advantage of the pitching connection issues more than the lower ranks.
In order to enjoy The Show more, I will get to 800+ then just start quitting out of games to get back down to 400. I will use different cards to do my dailies, get to see many different lineups and pitchers and I don't run into the connection issues near as much. I have run out all White So lineups and currently have an all gold lineup. Just things to make the game more enjoyable. They do still exist but not as much. It is just more enjoyable all around. Better connection and much more diversity. Throwing pitches down the middle to lineups consisting of Mantle, Sheffield, Biggio, CAP, Jackson, Sandberg, etc gets old very fast.
I am not mad or angry. I am simply pointing out an issue that has been around for several years which makes the game less enjoyable to people that see these issues quite often. There is a fix to these problems but I don't see SDS implementing them. I can usually tell with about 90% accuracy whether I am going to win or lose game in the first inning.

No idea. Not sure why I got the last one but oh well. Not my first rodeo getting banned from a forum.

One thing I noticed, there’s an abundance of trolls here that contribute hardly anything to this site besides worthless and unnecessary comments when a “complainer” brings up a topic about the game. If y’all can’t have a normal conversation wether you agree or not, what are you doing here besides trolling? The crybabies and whiners regularly post issues with the game in hopes of getting a better version in the future, why do y’all got to act up because of that?

It is sad that a game that had a few issues on release has turned into a straight pos

I was talking to my buddy last night while we were playing and we both agreed this is the worst gameplay in the series. Not a single aspect of this game plays well.
Baserunning is atrocious by the way. Might be the worst out of all phases. I have to concentrate way too hard on making sure my baserunners do what I tell them to do because a lot of times my inputs are non-responsive or severely delayed.

Well, some of these issues have been prevalent in the past such as differing pitch speeds. You know, when you can turn on 102 one game then can't catch up to 93 another. Part of the problem this year could be some strain on the internet due to the pandemic. Completely possible but ping indicators and matchmaking would help with this also. Again, I could be wrong but I don't think coding in the game has anything to do with the majority of issues in this game.
I have games where on my screen infielders aren't even throwing the ball to first but I am out. If the fielding is affected that much, what do you think that is doing to pitching, hitting and baserunning?

They work for SDS or are family members of SDS paid to pretend like those that designed aren’t mentally handicapped.
A game where perfect perfect from mantle is an out, but a good okay from some random CAP is a Homerun.
They should randomizes SDS employee paychecks. Perfect performance gets you paid half your salary.

They definitely are continually adjusting speeds.
Early/ everything is better than almost good/anything. Even seems to be ticking ahead of good/good.
I got a homerun Vs cpu on all star doing a mission that was early/ok with my middle pci not even touch the ball.

I'm no expert on internetworking/gaming but isn't MLB The Show played on a P2P connection? Meaning in a H2H game one of the two PS4's involved is essentially hosting the game (maybe the home team)? Given that, the matching algorithm looks for opponents in the nearest geographical area to each other first before expanding the search? I've often been matched up with local players and the experience has been decent, the farther out the search expands it's reasonable to assume the experience will be degraded.
If that's correct then the Show server is essentially involved in the matching algorithm and recording the events of the game (swings, scores, etc.). This is why the server doesn't know when a connection is lost - it's just sitting there waiting for input or the quit signal. We aren't logging onto a server and have the game run on the server, one of the participants is hosting it - which makes sense in a 2 player game. This is what enables "lag-switching" and all the other nastiness that we see in online games.
I could be way off on this stuff, but I'm genuinely interested to know - I think a good explanation of how all this happens would help with some of the frustration we all feel in playing online.

If people's cities in their teams are accurate which I presume most are, I face more regional opponents in the lower RS ranks. In events or higher, I see an awful lot of east coast which is pitiful since I am in the midwest.

@D_e_m_I_s_E bout that you got rid of that PUG icon. Even if it is now KC...
Haven't played PUBG in a month. That game is a bigger train wreck than this one. That game has lost so many people they are putting bots in the game. I think they have been there a while but they deny it.

Actually went back to pub after falling off show. Couldn't believe they added bots. Can't even get down with it

Yea, that game is a hot mess. One of the best conceptually done games I have ever played. Unfortunately, they never put out any patches to help with performance and the game is infested with cheaters. Radar and no recoil mods are rampant. I won well over 1,000 games combined on Xbox and PS4 so it isn't that I suck. I just know bs when I see it.
The first Division was a really fun game too but it was a mess also. The devs finally took notice and advised everyone that they were going to completely overhaul the game which I think took like 6 months. They did an excellent job on the overhaul. I didn't play Division 2 but heard it from several people that it was well done. Maybe PUBG will learn from this experience.
I honestly think if The Show implemented ping indicators and ping based matchmaking it would drastically improve the game play.

This I don't understand. I watch a youtuber playing a world series game and they are hitting homers where the pci doesn't even touch the ball yet I have had so many where I'm dead nuts on the ball with belli or trout and it is a simple popup . Now I know they are using the best hitters in the game but they are also going up against the best pitchers as well.

It isn't troll bait. I honestly could care less how many people look or comment in these posts. It is serious issue in gaming today with all the difference aspects in networking. It is just frustrating that it isn't being addressed. I played baseball from age 6 until my release in April 1994. I just don't like seeing the game like this. I have watched a ton of baseball since the mid 70's.
This is from an article in March on COD.
Thanks to a Twitter exchange involving charlieINTEL, we know that skill-based matchmaking is taking a back seat in Warzone. Answering whether or not the battle royale game will feature skill-based matchmaking, charlieINTEL explained that Infinity Ward is using Ping and connection as the “number one factor in matchmaking.” Hopefully, you should be getting placed in Warzone games alongside players with similar levels of connection speed and ping, rather than skill.COD even went to ping based matchmaking this year and there are a lot more players. I suck at COD but at least I know I am not getting shot around corners all the time. I haven't played it much but the deaths sure seemed fair. Tons better than trying to hit a 120 mph sinker.
