Showdown Help
-
Any tips for Showdown? I swear I make some pretty dang good contact that always seems to go straight to the opposing team fielder? Also, they make these incredible diving catches, rob homeruns, and turn triple plays. It's hard to beat what feels like is set for me to fail no matter how well I do. what are some of your best tips for showdown? My fields can't throw field a ball, commit the worst errors over and over. It's very frustrating.

I usually play all the missions and skip the final showdown unless I'm down a lot still. Remember to set your lineup for each mission. Sometimes you will have runners on base to start so make sure you don't put your best hitter leading off. Draft the best hitters. Don't really consider fielding. For perks, choose hitting ones. Heart attack, defibrillator, jump start are some good ones. If it's a boss or bottom of the 9th, you won't be fielding so just put all your best hitters in even out of position

I always draft a speedster turner/mondesi and leave him on the bench until my last run gets on base. Sadly, I can't steal second to save my life (the CPU has a cannon regardless of who the catcher is even on non-side step pitches), but I'll bunt over and then steal 3rd. Then just get something into the outfield. I should mention that even on regular bunts, sometimes my batters struggle (~35 rating for bunting), so I will sometimes substitute my best bunting pitcher (~60 bunting rating) to move my speedster over.

For fielding switch to “button accuracy” on defence. Its a meter style throw that will give you no errors if you can hit the spot which is pretty easy.
For draft try to find out which players you have success with and draft them as much as possible. Try to find quirks that work to your strengths, or even weaknesses like contact boost while behind the count.
Having a few speed guys is really helpful as well, the second stage has quite a few moments you can try to remember and take the time to set a line up that will really help, usually a speed guy in the 8 whole, or speed guys in the 1st and 2nd spot with contact hitters in the 4,5,6.
During the final boss take breaks. 20 outs is a lot, nobody is used to hitting for that long, if your in a rhythm keep going, but I actually stop every 5 outs and take a second to see where I’m at as far as pace. If your behind don’t stress, sometimes you rally early, sometimes middle, sometimes near the end. If you give up and never allow yourself to rally near the end, your failing 30% of the time you don’t need to be.
