Ranked seasons match ups

I don’t understand how these matchups work. I always play someone better than me. Usually I can still hang and win games. But every single game I play the other guy is like 50-100 XP levels better than I am and I don’t get it. How do these matchups work? And do they ever pair you with someone of equal skill?

Xp levels mean nothing, ranking does. A level 99 diamond player doesn't mean they are a good player.

Because it's only based on your ranked season points, which is a much more reliable way then what your xp level is, I could play 1000 games offline and get tons of XP and be higher than you, doesn't mean I'm better.

Yeah, I'm almost Gold 50 and have a stacked DD team; but I rarely play on line and really suck at it (5-5 RS). I'm certain when opponents see they've matched me they think "WTF", but then after a few at bats they realise "heck, this guy sucks".
