Hook slide causing runner to go to next base?

Not that I know of, even if I did make a mistake and hold it too long, pushing the stick to slide should take over the command to send the runner to the next base.
This is actually backwards. The command to go to the next base would take priority over sliding. Learn how to individually control your runners and be sure they're not about to go to the next base. There are certainly some baserunning hiccups, but it sounds like you sent the runner on and expected something that just wasn't going to happen.

This wasnt a steal attempt, it was a double to the RF wall, I hit L1 to go to 2nd, then held the right stick to slide. Runner kept going to 3rd instead.
Same principle applies, it's the lag. I always send the baserunners manually instead of using L1 for that very reason.

I shouldnt have to do that. When I hold L1 and the little runner shows as "2nd" theres no reason it should ever switch to "3rd" if I have let go of L1.

Look man, I'm just explaining to you why it happens. There's a ton of stuff going on in this game that shouldn't happen, but it happens regardless. You wanted an explanation and I gave it to you. You're welcome.

You shouldn't have to learn baserunning controls?
If you're holding L1...you're holding the button to advance all runners. What do you think is going to happen? If you're holding the button, the computer is assuming you want it to keep running...you know...because that's what you're telling it to do. Running to the next base is going to take priority over sliding if the runner thinks it's supposed to be going to the next base.

I know the baserunning controls, hit L1 to send the runner around first and to second as he is running. Let go of it after it shows "2nd" and they stop at second, except they didnt. I am not using the stick and buttons when no one else is on base because the game should work correctly and not send the runner to the extra base when I have let go of L1.

Oh...well, I guess SDS just hates you and wants you never to succeed.

Its lag. What he is talking about is simple to understand. If he does that exact same thing vs CPU he would not have this problem. but because our matchup system H2H is flawed, you have to totally change the way you play someone compared to vs the CPU because of lag. So yes, you are right. it does help to use the individual base controls. That doesnt mean that things arent really messed up though. You should be able to use it the way intended without getting penalized for it. It shouldnt take a full second, sometimes more for a button push to register.

Quite often, lag does happen and so, it’s wise to understand the controls. This particular case, though, SDS personally has it out for him.
