Memory Lane
-
This game isn’t perfect this year by any means…..but let’s take a trip down where we came from and let’s see how it’s improved and what we used to have to deal with. Add to this for stuff I missed or blocked from memory.
1.) The Griffey program was the first program they did in 17. It required online play. Something like 8 home runs in 10 games by a subpar Griffey card. People were messaging like crazy to help each other out.
2.). BR was 20-0 for the flawless reward.
3.). Before 17, hits would just go straight. No physics based. Hard ground balls right down the line were common. 17 tried to get the physics but a lot of line drives that just didn’t ge the height.
4.). Ticket Counter - do I buy this card from the ticket shop or save tickets for the 99s because tickets are only earned by playing…..a lot.
5.). Ryan Schmipf the best card in 18 for half the cycle.
6.). You could accidentally quick sell your collection rewards. Accidentally sold Chipper in 16…..oh well.
7.) Events had unique win streak rewards. (Luis Tiant)
8.). Everything was pack based in the early years, but if you could make WS, those cards sold for hundreds of thousands of stubs.
9.). Flipping tax was only 5%.
10.). Collection rewards were a surprise. Honus Wagner needed every card in the game when he was released and nobody knew he was coming. 11.). Evolution program cards…..Cargo was over 100K for his bronze card that started the program that led to the diamond.
