Pitching is a crapshoot/ inputs don’t really matter
-
Player inputs should matter in “competitive” game modes.
Throwing a pitch with 100% accuracy just to have it land anywhere in the “par region” that is half of the zone makes no sense and when it is in the zone or on the black it still might be called a ball because of the imperfect umpire. Completely negating your perfect user inputs.
I’m all for “realistic” gameplay if it works both ways.. pitches thrown into the clouds or 5ft below the zone shouldn’t be fouled off 8 times an at bat.
I get it… hitting is fun, but the foul ball spam + par region + the imperfect umpire calling 90% of the pitches on the black a ball is just dumb it forces you to just throw the ball in the zone to make every game a HR Derby
Add some of the RNG that pitchers face in the game to the batters. If 7/10 pitches on the black are balls then 7/10 of the foul balls they get on pitches 5 ft above or below the zone should be whiffs.

"player inputs should matter" people are the worst.
This isnt CoD, a baseball game has to have a degree of variance in the outcomes or it would be a terrible game.
Are there a few areas they could tweak? Sure. But in general the better player is going to win a large % of the time so quite obviously inputs matter, and they matter a lot.
Also, 95% of the player base would hit under .200 online if pitching worked they way you wanted it

@Teak2112_MLBTS super dotting in MLB The Show 21 was fun and a lot of players hit over .200

@MrDero_MLBTS
He kinda does have a point with the pitching. Anypitch on the corner, not if it just nicks it, but substantially on the black should ALWAYS be a strike. -
@TheBigPapa55_PSN I’m ok with some being called balls for a more “realistic” feel or whatever… but 90% of the time they’re called balls. The foul ball spam makes it worse because you eventually have to say screw it and just throw one in the zone and hope your opponent doesn’t hit it.
-
@MrDero_MLBTS I’m with you for the pitches hitting the zone being called strikes, but not about the par region. Yes, input matters, but so does each cards control rating and that determines the size of the par. No, a perfect input with a pitcher with no control should not go exactly where you want it every time.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN if we are using that logic then a no pci homerun or 10 foul balls in an at bat with 60 vision Elly De La Cruz should never happen… not trying to sound like a [censored] btw but I can’t tell you how many times I was nowhere near the ball with him and it’s a no doubter lol
-
@MrDero_MLBTS The pci doesn’t have a defined par, so no it’s not exactly the same thing, but maybe it should be.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN the penalty for low control is a huge par on pitches and you get punished heavily for missing your spot by the smallest degree.
The “penalty” for low vision is supposed to be more swing and miss because of the smaller outer PCI… we both know that is bogus lol 60 or 125 vision it doesn’t matter you’re getting a foul tip
I know vision impacts some other things as well such as timing windows… it just doesn’t seem like the impact is as harsh for hitters
-
@MrDero_MLBTS Which pitching setting do you use? I’m not necessarily disagreeing with what you’re saying, I just don’t think pitching is the problem when it comes to the disparity you are talking about. Foul tips are way too prevalent. I regularly foul off pitches I have no business touching.
