Weekend classic lag. Goodluck
-
@RAisEdByGoAt_XBL yeah the base running input lag is bad. I’ve had many pickoffs go against me because of it.
-
Does anyone know why it happens to one person and not the other In a match ? I’m truly curious because I don’t know hardly anything about this kind of stuff
I guess it would probably be wise to stick with ranked so I’m not constantly complaining everytime there’s a classic. Maybe weekend classic just doesn’t work down south I don’t know.

@RAisEdByGoAt_XBL I have been dealing with this for years on google fiber internet. I promise you there is literally nothing you can do. It's basically the lag compensation in the game for all the people with not so great internet, especially the people on the coast. I am in KC and majority of my opponents are east/west coast and I get this all of the time. I stopped being competitive as it will just drive you nuts. I could list a host of problems you probably see like warping pitches, delayed baserunning, more fielding errors and the list goes on and on. Feels like you are throwing slow pitch softball while trying to hit 120 mph blitz balls.
You would have a better gameplay experience if you just moved to NY and shared your wifi with 50 neighbors. My theory is people with these connections always get connected to say the NY server because their internet is so bad they can't match with anyone to say the Florida or Chicago servers.
It will never change because too many "elite" players wouldn't be able to go 200-10 if they actually made the connections like they should. This game should have had an accurate ping indicator years ago. It is 2025 but the connections feel like a 2005 game. I actually saw better connections in Socom in 2002. You think it is bad now? Wait until people start leaving the game and people with not so great internet are the only ones playing.

@DemIsE4_XBL my man you are spot on with warped pitches. That was the word I was looking for. And for me today it was even warped swinging. It was like it glitched or lagged through the follow through of the swing every time. I get some ranked matches where the connection is ok. But it never really happens during the world classic. It’s been very tough to play. This years iteration has by far been the worse
Is it because we aren’t on the east and west coast ? I appreciate the reply

@RAisEdByGoAt_XBL The old underwater swings or swinging with a pool noodle. Just more signs of a bad connection. I literally have a good connection game maybe 20% of the time. Those games usually don't last 3 innings.
It is not because we are not on the coast, it is how SDS does their matchmaking. It is just really bad if you have high speed internet because you are matching with opponents further away. The game is going to bad for someone on a P2P (peer to peer) connection. Message your opponents on those games and ask them what state they are in. A lot will respond to you and I bet you notice they are quite a ways from you.
I have done literally everything on my network you can think of. Calling google and having them come out, changing cables, changing router settings, DMZ, QOS and a host of other things. I even tried VPN. Problem is when I VPN through NY I get west coast or midwest opponents, west coast and get east coast. Funny thing is I did VPN last year through Australia and played a top 50 guy. He had 4 runs through 8 innings at Shield Woods. Had I played him on my wired connection, he would have mercied me in 4 innings. I believe there is a server in TX but with high speed internet you likely rarely connect to that. I see streamers from NY and Florida playing regional people all the time. I rarely get a regional opponent. Really doesn't help as St. Louis and Chicago have really bad internet also.
I took a lot of [censored] for years on this forum regarding this issue because people are just ignorant. If they don't see it, then it doesn't exist. My favorite is you can't have an opinion unless you are elite at the game. This game has had major connection issues for years.

Glad I wasn't losing my mind. I was having a really hard time with it last night so much so that I just gave up and quit in the 6th inning because I couldn't seem to get a strike across the plate. pitches were ending up on the opposite side of the plate from where I aimed them.. pitches coming at me had millisecond freezes... swings had hitches... it was bad. I just assumed it was a connection issue with me or my opponent. I had no idea weekend classic specifically has issues but I believe it now as I usually don't have these issues.
-
@DemIsE4_XBL also in KC... i've played online like 6 straight days with no issue until this WC game which was pretty much unplayable for me. I gave up.
-
@Barfy-Bad-Gas_XBL You have google fiber? I've made WS at least 4 times every year since 17. There are a lot of games I can't catch up to outlier or 95 sinkers on all star. Due to that (connections and can't ever get a good pack pull) I make sure I don't get to HOF. I would love to play HOF or even legend if the connections we're good but there just not.
-
@DemIsE4_XBL yup... google fiber with the 5 gig upgrade. it's smokin'.
-
@Barfy-Bad-Gas_XBL Think it may be a huge disadvantage in this game. Would love to know if your show experience improves and if you did anything.
What I've found are away games are bad like 90%. Home about 67%. I have to home hunt in weekend classic or I won't play the game.
-
@DemIsE4_XBL I tried plugging in hard wire (i'm only about 20 feet from my box so getting great signal) but my nat/port settings won't allow me to connect to MLB the show. That is the only thing I thought of to try.
-
I hadn't played online much for a couple of years but this year has seemed to be better and at least playable without frustrating me too much. This Weekend classic has been different for me so far. 2 of my 3 games have had terrible lag. One of them I was facing Greg Maddux on all star and he was too fast for me. Those 2 games were back to the point where you basically need to push the swing button as the pitcher releases the ball to have good timing.
-
I’ve played two games this far. First game lagged out before the game started and said I lost connection with the opponent. I was awarded the win. Next game I was up 3-2 at the end of the top of the 3rd inning, had just struck out opponent’s hitter for the 3rd out, lagged out and lost connection again. Awarded em the win and the rewards.
Is this because I have a bad connection? Or my opponent? Because I’m hardwired with a fiber wire Ethernet cable so I can’t imagine my connection is bad.
-
I’m running fiber and upload and download speeds of around 6 or 700. I’ve noticed today the gameplay is alittle bit better but overall still really bad. I agree home games are not AS bad but every game has issues for me to some extent. It’s just not enjoyable this year. I find having to constantly adjust timing makes it tough to progress in the game. When I watch content creators online they seldomly have internet issues. It’s all really bizarre. Someone asked if I’m hardwired… I am. I will say my TV is an LG oled c9. But I’ve heard that tv can compete with most monitors. The amount of dink hits, foul balls, the defensive errors are comical, the late and early swings during WC though your fairly certain you mounted the ball up. The warping, the pitches randomly going middle middle, the brutal exit velo when it’s lagging really bad. I can go on and on and on. Today was better but still brutal. I did manage to match with another person from Texas and that games connection was too bad for me but he asked for a friendly cause his was rough so we only made it through a couple innings but being matched with someone nearby was a breath of fresh air. My other matchups were west coast and it was [censored]
-
Sounds like i may wait another month to try WC.
-
I would say it depends on where you are located. Give it a shot if it’s brutal then I would bounce. I say that but I can’t stop. But I have a problem and I’m addicted to this game though it’s a mess and doesn’t run well at all. It’s the only game I play at all. For years
-
@RAisEdByGoAt_XBL I tried it again last night. I did not experience the same sort of lag. I did move to my OLED gaming tv/monitor and plugged my controller in. Not sure that had anything to do with it.

@Barfy-Bad-Gas_XBL
Thanks for the update. I played this morning. Smoother gameplay but I’m still get warped pitches. Once again the best I can explain it is when batting the pitcher releases the pitch. There is a very slight hiccup and then the game tried to overcompensate for it and bring the pitch back to real time so for me the pitch zips in at a ridiculous speed. It’s as if the game hits pause then hits play but fast forwards really fast to catch back up to real time. It’s very tough to play. Feels like GOaT -
@RAisEdByGoAt_XBL yeah that's exactly what I was experiencing 2 nights ago. DIdn't happen to me last night but I only played one game

This WC I haven't had any issues with lag, alot of warped pitches (Probably need to reset my upload priority for my consol again). I have however seen that with this shortened time in Gold 2 the top 25 rank people are all guys who have been 1000+ rated in the last 2 WC. I'm not gonna say they have been sand bagging and just want to get easy wins. I feel like people might not have had enough time to make it up higher. But it did also highly impact my WC, 3 previous went 4-2, 5-1, 5-1 then this 1 went 2-4 with 3 of those being against legitimate previous 1000+ players with 90-20, 100-60, 59-9 records. This is pretty much exactly what WC was suppose to avoid, but again I am doing my best not to blame the players because non of us really knew it was gonna be a 1 week then WC again.
