During the stream they said that next week's Weekend Classic SHOULD be working as intended.

They didn’t address one of the main problems. They said people would play in their division which they were I thought. They were just getting rewards out of their division don’t think they mentioned anything about that.

People were matchmaking based on their current rating. Now, it prioritizes matchmaking based on your Weekend Classic division instead of current rating. So, if your max rating puts you in the 800 to 899 division but your current rating is 550, it prioritizes you against other people in the 800 to 899 division. It also restricts that person to only 1 division higher or lower, so someone in the 800 to 899 division can only ever match people in the 700 to 999 divisions. It should counter people trying to tank their rating to play against people in the 400s and 500s.
Basically, don’t ever let your matchmaking search run long. Just cancel and keep trying for a quick match and you should only match people in your division.

People playing at their rating wasn’t the problem. It was they were getting rewards for their max bracket I believe while playing low. So a 900 guy drops to 400 to beat everyone at 400 for the 900 rating rewards.
