Pitching Perks Not Unlocking
-
Was coming in here to give the same update. First game played after the latest game update I unlocked 6 new pitching perks. It's aggravating that they don't acknowledge there was an issue or fix in the patch notes. I understand you can't and won't detail every change in a patch note byt when it's a bug impacting gameplay it would be nice to know it's resolved without trial and error

Also, if it hasn't been mentioned, Pulse Pounder does work... For home games. But the perk still states Away games

To recap (and update)...
After patch 7 my SP/C (who did not go to college) unlocked his first 2 pitching perks in his very next start (7th of his MLB career). Two starts later (9th of MLB career), I unlocked a third (Lone Wolf) after striking out the first batter of the game (it was a dynamic challenge, but the challenge didn't have a perk reward). I just unlocked my 4th perk in my 15th start (Flame Thrower).I still haven't had any 'high-leverage' outs when pitching with this two-way player, so progress is happening, just somewhat slower than I'd like.
While batting, I did encounter a dynamic challenge (not a boss challenge) that showed a perk as a potential reward (for 2 of the 3 available choices). It didn't indicate which perk it was going to be (there was no symbol in the little hexagon), but the color seemed to be for a batting perk (I still need to unlock 'Lead Off Magic' and 'Frozen Rope'). I selected one of the choices that included a perk as the reward, and seemed to successfully complete the challenge, but did not get a new perk - only the progress/partial tokens.
After that happened, I did shut down my PS5 (and had lunch), but had the same thing happen several games later, so it seems there are more things to be patched.
Interesting that Pulse Pounder still activates for home games despite the description text saying 'away'. I wonder if Recharge still does the same thing (activates in away games, but the description says
'home'). -
It seems Update #7 sort of coded up a short term "catch up" with the perks as I did rather quickly earn two more pitcher perks (and pitcher perks is the only category I had not previously gotten them all before Update #7).
However, we also now see the opportunity to earn perks by satisfying in-game challenges, though it seems a relatively rare offer -- something akin to one challenge in 30 and so far I have only seen this offered through hitting challenges, which is interesting given the pitching perks would have to be offered through pitching challenges for those avatar players who are only pitchers. Yet, I have not yet seen any perks offered with pitching challenges.

Here is my most recent update/findings.
My SP/C character (who did not go to college) is now at 40 career pitching starts at the MLB level, and has unlocked all 23 hitting perks, 11 of the 14 pitching perks, 10 of 11 fielding perks, and 5 of 9 baserunning perks.
I still get offered the 'bugged' dynamic hitting challenge with a perk reward while batting (the one that is impossible to complete) - even though I've already got all the hitting perks.
I haven't unlocked a new pitching perk in over 10 starts, which is seems odd to me - they've all been complete game shutouts (or better - I did mention I'm playing on low difficulty).
For baserunning, I only recently started to improve those stats, and my habit had been to skip most baserunning opportunities, but I now have 37 carreer SB, which is probably why I've started unlocking those perks.One other thing that concerns me... In one pitching start, I got the notification that I was injured, which I decided not to accept, so I hit the 'simulate and exit' choice (I had autosave turned off) to quit the game. In the post game progress screen, it indicated I had unlocked a pitching perk (Last Stand, I thnk), but since the injury result had me sidelined for 2-3 months, I decided to exit and reload my save. That was over 10 starts ago, and no additional pitching perks have unlocked.
I switched back to my SP-only character (who did go to college - so a headstart on unlocking pitching perks) for a comparison, and am now at 25 carreer starts in MLB, and has unlocked 12 of the 14 pitching perks, and 5 of the 11 fielding perks. My most recent pitching perk unlock happened in start 19, and I can't remember how long it's been since I unlocked a fielding perk.
I finally did experience a potential perk reward in-game challenge as an SP, but it was a Boss challenge, not a dynamic one. I once again found myself pitching into extra innings (zero run support from the offence), and in the 11th with the score still tied at zero the opponent's cleanup hitter came up, and I got the Boss challenge. Only one of the 3 potential rewards indicated a perk, but it looked the same as the 'bugged' hitting challenge - color indicated an unnamed hitting perk, and even though I seemed to achieve the task (strike batter out on 3 pitches), the challenge did not complete, and only 'failed' when I got removed for a relief pitcher after the 13th inning. It seems that one is 'bugged', too.
I also find it odd that the only way for a SP-only character to improve one's Speed attribute (which would still be needed to cover 1st base on ground balls) is through off-day training sessions - which means 1 point at a time. There's no way to spend tokens to do that.
I see that patch 8 has been released this morning, and the patch notes once again don't mention anything about fixing perk-related problems in RTTS.
I guess more testing is needed.

I dont know why I'm still not getting no pitching perks at all I'm in my 4th year i have had perfect games shutouts multiple games with 10 or more strikeouts and still i have not gotten no pitching perks i feel like if your a two way player the pitching perks don't unlock i have wrote mlb the show multiple times and they still ain't said anything about it in any of they're tweets or updates i don't know what I'm doing wrong what should I do could it be that playing on low difficulty could mess it up?

I have all but one perk activated and while that one still locked perk is a pitching perk and those did take longer, the reality is each perk does have a coded sequence of events that must play out to unlock it. I am confident that before much longer that sole remaining perk will unlock for my avatar player.

@VELL-SOSA-618_XBL
Are you a two-way player or pitcher only? If your a two-way use your tokens on your pitcher not just your hitter. -
@SlickGtv__PSN
Stop putting tokens into your batter only put tokens into pitches and other pitching attributes -
my pulse pounder has also gone from only activating in home games, to not activating at all even when I met the requirement. any insight yet on how to fix that issue?
edit: none of my unlocked pitching perks are activating, suddenly.
