Weekend Classic good idea bad experience
-
So just played my first 2 weekend classic games. And I'll start by saying I pushed to get to WS and I usually hang around 800-820 anyways. But the matchups were obviously not as SDS advertised. Both my oppents were at the top end and obviously intentionally stayed out of 900 to sloth the players. It's a bad outlook that has soured the experience. I have no problem loosing when I match up against someone who is 900 rating and they beat me. But people intentionally lost to go to the bottom to snipe rewards it's a bad experience. And SDS is basically condoning it by not matching people against the same ranking as them I.E. tighten the field more. Should be matching against players 0-20 points around me whose highest rating is 0-20 points around me, not the guy who quit 6 games to go to 801 from 898. Then it also needs to be moderated better, both my loses were while winning in the 6th by 5+ runs and then the oppent paused for 60 seconds and then couldn't miss after unpausing. This is sketchy and opens SDS to lawsuits for obviously deplorable player ethics. And yes it is legally actionable because the "STUBS" and "CARDS" I now can't get have a monetary in and real game value I.E. 150k stubs = $99.99 USD.
Now there will be people who come in and say get good. Usually offline players who claim to play on legend on franchise or supposedly a top 50 player who you can't find on the rankings. They're gonna say you lost because you suck and OK cool, but at least I don't lose on purpose or intentionally sandbag my rating because I can't handle actually trying.

@Rhyno1986_XBL just curious how you know they intentionally quit?
-
I'm understanding this correctly? You think people that were better than you intentionally stayed down and tanked their record but you were beating their [censored] through 6 innings before losing?
Seems like it may be a fairly even matchup if you scored that much on them and then they came back?
I thought whatever your max rating in ranked was your rating regardless if you lost games after that max rating... That's how I understood it anyway. Like if you hit 730 and lose 4 games after you're still going into weekend classic as rated 730 for rewards purposes
-
You were winning by like 6 runs in the 6th inning then lost multiple times? Sounds like someone leaves their starter in too long and the opponents also probably started to pick on tendencies of pitches.
-
I am 0-2 in the cellar division(0-399). I feel like I could have won both games. When you give up back to back inside the park home runs, play defense like a t-ball player, and just struggle with pitch location I deserved to lose both those games.
My gut tells me I’m going to go 0-6. I’m on a losing streak that is double digits. I’d love to blame the game or the equipment I’m using but in my scenario it’s just the player.
Well gotta run! Jobu needs some more rum.

@ref479ode_PSN yes but they also said your max is the division you are in but your rating is were they place you inside that division. I was 803, both these players were 899 and 896 max. Then go look at their last 3 games. All losses in the top of the first with no bottom. Meaning they intentionally quit to lower the thier rating to be in the lower half of the 800-899 rated players.
-
@dap1234567890_PSN nope took out in the 6th and again both players couldn't paused for around 60 seconds then couldn't miss.

@raidingfridges_MLBTS sacrifice a live chicken.

I love the idea. The Execution has been awful. I made gold 2. 600-699. My first game I played a WS player. How? Well because you can lose and your rating drops. So you’ll still be in gold 2 tier and could play beginners and get the gold 2 rewards. When you lock in this is where you should play. Ideally I think there is 20 players on your “leaderboard” we should only play them, but I get different schedules or playing the same person multiple times. At worst I should be playing only players in gold 2 tier. Other wise what’s the point? I can lose a few games play down and get the same reward. WC record should t factor into your season long RS record as it’s a completely different game mode. Just my 2 cents

I'm not saying "get good" but I am saying you know nothing of consumer law and lawsuits. If you actually think as you post you are the one that needs to retain an attorney and have it......no I would not take this case as there isn't one.

Disappointed to hear that people are able to tank their rating
It’s head scratching to me, that SDS couldn’t manage to have Weekend Classic matchups be between players in the same, highest division
So let’s say I make gold 2 (800-899). Even if I tank my rating down to the 400s, I should still play opponents in the Gold 2 division during WC
Baffling that they couldn’t manage to do this. At least make the WC matchups between players in the highest division they reached, or at least +- 1 division tier
-
This what happens when rewards are so much better for weekend classic than regular ranked tier rewards. People no longer care about what division they aren’t in and will tank to play lesser opponents. I don’t know if they have a system in place to match people based upon a previous ranking? They may only have tech to match based upon current ranking which rewards people that quit
-
weekend classic is kind of annoying I hit championship series a game before weekend classic comes out and was doing good in division series and then all of the sudden, I lost 4 games in a row in weekend classic and dropped all the way back down to wild card and still continued to lose when I was dominating this just feels weird
-
and my opponents and I have the same outfielders but I'm the only one with bad reactions
-
I mean, wouldn’t this be a simple fix?
For WC, when it starts, your tier is based on your current rating…not your highest rating achieved
So if someone makes World Series or higher, then quits out to go down to the 400s right before WC starts, have them be in the lower WC tier
That should prevent rating tanking
-
Not thought out very well....I've also been playing players from higher divisions...pretty easy to tell when they advertise their division on their banner but are playing down. So reach a high ranking...then tank since matchmaking goes by current ranking regardless of division
-
Anyone else feels like hitting is fine in the first inning or two. God forbid you get any lead even if it’s 4-5 runs and all of a sudden no matter how well you square it up it’s impossible to tack on runs? On top of that the timing gets super iffy. Then proceed to through good release cookies until your lead is gone then all of a sudden you can hit again? Is the game lead biased trying to make it more exciting? Because it sucks. I have not held any lead or have had any lead held against me. This has got to be fixed
-
@Rhyno1986_XBL the lead thing is horrible. No matter how well I matchup with my bullpen it seems as though my hitting timing gets glitchy and with two outs they just evaporate whatever lead I have no matter how big. Then once the lead is gone the hitting returns. This sucks. Literally have to start from behind to win a game.
-
@doobiebross66-72_PSN no because what’s the incentive to win as many games as possible? It’s simple play your games win your games and whatever division you’re in that’s where you play period. Ratings when it starts doesn’t mean anything. If you made WS that’s where you play even if you lost 10 games leading up to it
-
@LIONED-33_XBL idk if you understood what I said, or, maybe I wasn’t clear enough…
To prevent the top players from tanking their rating BEFORE weekend classic, weekend classic divisions should be based on the players current rating the moment weekend classic starts
Example: I win enough games to reach a 1000 rating the day before weekend classic starts. I decide to quit and tank my rating down to the 600s. Weekend classic should place me in the tier/division for the 600s, and only be eligible for the rewards in that division…not the 1000s.
Removing the ability to tank your rating does not remove the incentive to win as many games as possible BEFORE weekend classic starts
It’s simple. When weekend classic starts, your division should be based on your current rating, not the highest you’ve reached
