Perk unlock conditions
-
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I am wondering if anyone has unlocked any of the pitching perks as a SP/CP or as a 2 way player.
I have been in game unlocking my hitting perks, fielding perks, Baserunning perks but have yet to unlock any pitching perks. I have been reading post, forums and others seem to be having the same issues.
Some have also said they are unlocking the pitching perks by meeting the in game conditions to unlock the perk but they have not said what conditions those are or even provided a screenshot shot.
I thought my 2 way was buged so i made a SP and a CP and my SP pitched 44 games in double A, no pitching perk unlocked. I got called up to AAA and pitched around 40 games and no perk unlocked. Got called up to the majors and so far have pitched in 20 games and still have not unlocked any perks.
My CP followed a simular path so far and the same thing, still not pitching perks have unlocked.

I think the two way players have a glitch that give them little to no pitching perks. I am trying to do something to see if you get perfect games that you get a perk, because I got a pitching perk in high school, and that's the only time other than college where I got a perfect game

I got a screenshot on reddit showing someone with all pitching perks unlocked, he is just a pure SP however and he did not get his perks til sometime in season 2. He just dont know what cuased them to start to unlock and i wonder if they will ever fix the pitching perks for 2 ways

@Aizmirsts_XBL If you play only as CP and are really good, you'll unlock all the pitcher perks. I did it myself.

I think the main concern expressed here is that issuance of perks is undefined. There simply is no known process or rule by which they are "unlocked" and awarded to the player. I think this is a fair criticism. I also agree that the pitching perks do seem the only category of perks that are doled out stingily.

@PBMMGTrey_PSN I get that but as a 2 way when i pitched i did so in about half a season, around 80 games, pitched nearly flawless each game, finished with i think it was like 13 wins, not 1 perk unlocked. i am 20 games into my second season and still not a single perk for pitching.
@PriorFir4383355_XBL i get that but the fact that all the other perks unlock frequent and fast just make it stupid that pitching perks are so dam hard to get. I talked to one person who is in there 3rd season as a SP and has yet to get a single pitching perk unlocked

In my 3rd season I ve gotten triples I’ve ran home from 2nd base I have over 133 stolen bases in my career and yet somehow someway I don’t have all baserunning perks I’m still missing 3 help me someone please is their anything I can do to unlock these will sit here and swing for singles just to steal 2nd and 3rd and still won’t unlock perks I’ve even hit for the cycle I don’t know what else stretch your hits means

I really think they need to add the conditions for unlock to the perks, so we can target unlock perks we want. I think they just want you to naturally progress, though, and not worry so much over what perks you have.
Some people are talking about 2-way players, and I've seen that complaint a lot- there might be (probably is) something broken there.

My pitching perks finally started unlocking in my third season, pushing my 4sfb to 105. It definitely has to do with conditions. I have nine perks unlocked.

Something else I've noticed, but am not convinced my reasoning is correct about...
When I compare the remaining pitching perks I still need to unlock on my SP/C against my SP, here's what I see (and think about):
My SP/C (who gets most of his outs/strikeouts on a combination of 4-seam fastball, slider and splitter) still needs to unlock Last Stand, Conductor and Filthy Break. The last two are related to boosting pitch break. My SP (who gets the majority of his outs/strikeouts with a combination of sweeping curve, 12-6 curve and screwball) needs to unlock Cannon Arms and Flamethrower. The last one is related to a boost in pitch velocity.
Is there anything to this? Do I deliberately need to get outs with some sort of fastball to unlock Flamethrower? Or use breaking balls to get Conductor and Flithy Break?
Every locked pitching perk has the same description of "Strike out batters, hit your spots and keep the scoreboard clean...", with no mention of requiring to use certain types of pitches to get certain perks.
It would be nice to have more information on this sort of thing.

I have the perks you mention not having with your pitcher who throws primarily fastballs, with using an avatar two-way player who pitches mostly fastballs.
I don't think we can break down the game code to this degree of detail. There just isn't enough raw data out there. It think if anything it comes down to meeting certain situations and escaping them as the pitcher with your lead intact. I also think the pitching perks were very stingily awarded until update #7 was released and then we saw an increase in the rate of pitching perks awarded.
Since update #7, my avatar player has gone from just three pitching perks active to now having all but three active. These three perks are the only perks the avatar player has not already unlocked. I suspect before long those final three will be added to the active list.
