I didn't spend a single dime in 24 . This year I plan on purchasing stubs equal to game price even though it's probably free on game pass , I think its fair . But if they get rid of created stadiums. I ain't paying nothing .

At this point most of the best hitters/swings are switch hitters anyway

Ketel, jram, mantle, Reynolds, lindor, Adley(pop time), posada, etc

@Dolenz64_XBL, I am talking about DD. I wouldn't disagree with your take that it's closer to the arcade side of things, but I would argue that it shouldn't be; every video game will and probably should exaggerate the most exciting elements, but the deluge of home runs in this game is well past the point of being ridiculous. Might as well have flames trailing the ball when it leaves the bat.

I think you're generalizing a bit... there are also people who like the pitching and defensive side of things. The current model emphasizes hitting (and, again, only power) to the point where pitching becomes almost irrelevant, and I'd argue that the game would be far more interesting if great pitchers were also given their due; we wouldn't all face the same four guys (who offer the only chance of keeping an ERA below 5.00) if every facet of the game wasn't tamped down so there could be more home runs for the unimaginative. How many games have you played where you've given up 6 hits and 5 of them were long balls? I'm saying that needs to be tempered. You can still emphasize home runs and pepper the game with them, but they shouldn't be the only thing that works.

People don't use singles hitters because hitting singles doesn't work. People want to win, and you cannot win games the way things are set up because singles hitters do not hit singles consistently; they fly out. That can be fixed, and if things were changed so singles hitters not only hit singles, but hit more singles than power hitters hit home runs, that might change.

You're right that SDS can't please everyone, but considering that their game is a baseball game, it should play more like a baseball game. They won't lose customers by improving their physics models.

I agree with the notion that at least 1 out of 2 hits is a long ball. But when you allow made up high elevation fields (Shield Woods, Laughing Mt, etc) and cheap created stadiums like Costco into online mode; you'll have that outcome.

What I would've loved to see, and I doubt SDS would've provided the data, is how many of the homeruns listed on our report cards came from these cheap stadiums.

The only „data“ (and not personal guesses) we have is from SDS …. https://x.com/mlbtheshow/status/1869428253385220184?s=61&t=EHF_WX3TnZlVu7MUvxi8Ng
From that, 1/3 of the hits are HR

Created stadiums is NOT the problem.
First off I rarely face opponents with created stadium much less cheap ones like Costco. I think my opponents chose costco like twice the whole year.
My created stadium has if I remember correctly less than 100 foot elevation .
    330 404 330 . The ball flies out of there .
I think it's worse than costco and it's not supposed to be .
I have enjoyed the few created stadiums my opponents have chosen.

I should not need to buy a NEW game annually.
By this time in gaming a Baseball game should be perfect.
    From animations to game play.

I SHOULD be buying a New Roster annually to add to my game.

I should be able to buy the 1956 roster as well.

I should be able to replay the 1986 season IF I want to buy it.

The game should cost me $120.
Should come with 1 roster of the current season.

If I want more rosters unlocked they should cost 50 bucks.

    Leagues would pop up everywhere.
You want to play with the 55 dodgers.
    Buy it.

Why we are not at this is beyond me.

This is an infinite stream of money.
Some would buy three and 4 rosters.

    I would want.

    1927
    1941
    1955/56
    1961
    1969
    1975/ 78
    84/85/86
    96/98
    2001
    2004
The list goes on and on

Stop being lazy SDS and think out of the box.

    Oh yea

I should be able to play DD games vs CPU against All Time rosters.

    Like lets go!

@YOSHI24_MLBTS, thank you - I was looking for that and couldn't find it... I think that gives a pretty good clue as to how out-of-whack the distribution of hits is. Almost twice as many HRs as doubles? 1.67B singles to 1.23B HRs?

In the regular MLB season in 2024, there were 5,456 HRs hit. There were 7,771 doubles, and a whopping 25,902 singles.

The ball barely hits the grass in this game, and I think people who actually like baseball might enjoy it more if it did.

    @The_Joneser_PSN
    Too many 99’s!!

Too many players at 125 attributes.

Online ranked should have an 85 ranking.
Build the strengths of your squad as you see fit.
You can’t have maxed out players in every single space.

@jaychvz_XBL, while I respectfully disagree with your take that created stadiums are enjoyable, I do whole heartedly agree with you that they are not the problem. The hitters simply have too much power and it's too easy to hit the ball hard in the air. There is no park that contains these home runs (I've played many games in Forbes to try to stop them, and while it's better, most of the runs scored still come via the long ball).

@RazorForte45_XBL - Indeed. All attributes should be capped at 99, and those 99s should be given out more sparingly...

    @The_Joneser_PSN
No draft pick should hit homers at the same rate of Babe Ruth.

If the online game play was all capped at a total overall of 85 theventire environment could be dialed down and the Best players on the Sticks would rise to the top.

@RazorForte45_XBL, while I see where you're coming from, I can't say I'm in favor of an 85 overall cap in RS... I think the individual player attributes should be tamped down, but I do think you should be able to use any combination of players that you'd like in that mode.

They used to cap your overall team in the event a few years back....

I would be pro ranked cap...but the cap kind've increases through the year as the power creep increases. Give us some 95+ real early but we'll have to build our team and run some bronze out there or use only one 95+ to make the team overall fit.

By end of year, the creep has you up to max squads

it'll probably keep variety in teams, may still make a switch hitter type squad the meta but I think thats the best way to do it and since people want a power creep it seems like a overall cap would align perfectly with a power creep

Main problem: Shield woods and similar awful stadiums that are just a disgrace to this otherwise pretty good baseball sim. Unfortunately I could not find similar stats of the 23-game … But I highly doubt, it was this bad (e.g. too many Homeruns because too many a$$ stadiums)

EDIT: Just looked up a few of the top players of 24. Their HR-ratio is about 33%. That is nearly three times as high as the MLB-numbers of 2024 (13%). I tried to look up the stats of the games played at Coors, but I failed :). I do not think, they are that bad as in MLBTS24.

It would not change a single thing, because they would have to dial down the pitchers too (or ppl would complain about pitching being too dominant)

I should not need to buy a NEW game annually.

You're fighting a fight that has already been lost. Almost all sports games release annually from The Show to Madden and even to pure sim products like Out Of The Park Baseball.

They can't release season past rosters if you expect the players you are playing with to resemble the actual players because that requires likeness rights be obtained for those players and that would be impossible.

With a game like Out of the Park Baseball they have the entire history of the MLB available but they do this because they are only using the players name and their MLB stats. Their in game portraits bear little, if any, resemblance to the actual player. Even in their version of DD (Perfect Team) they use generic baseball cards with no faces for any player who is not in the MLBPA.

And for every person who says that they don't care about the resemblances there will be another complaining that their favorite historical player looks nothing like they did in real life.
