How much do you care about your ranked record?
-
Each year I get sweaty and nervous playing ranked where it almost eliminates the fun of ranked for me as I do events and br way more frequently.
This year I went 42-0 before losing and then I won one to end. So I'm 43-1...using playing on all star and playing end of season knowing I prob have a good advantage against my opponent. I don't ever really sweat for world series. I'm not trying to brag my record cause I'm not really pushing the competition so it is what it is.
To play well I feel like I need to be in the right mood, well rested, caffeinated, calm, patient, in a recent groove hitting wise, etc
Part of the reason I protect my record is I get ALOT of free quits in br and events making my speed of getting thru the programs better and more efficient but that doesn't matter now at this point in the cycle.
I honestly didn't even care that much that I lost and my plan now is prob run weird teams and not God squad for the rest of the year so I also care less
Is it easier to not care when you're running theme teams as I've always tried to run God squads and Meta Pitchers
Did anyone previously care about their record then eventually not care? I almost have to be in the right mind to play ranked where as br and events I literally have zero care win or lose. Br or events I'll just quit rather than play shield woods and then ranked ill just deal with it.
Also, next year I think I'd rather just quit rather than play a bunt dancer or excessive pause guy... Shield woods, etc. Should I just quit out of 10 games to start 2025 and sabatoge my record?

I care about my ranked record … but only to a specific extent. As I climb higher, I usually lose more … but I like comparing to previous years … during the end-cycle, I usually do my theme teams … that is when my record starts getting worse … but: who cares.
Best part of your post: Shield woods is a disgrace, the higher you get, the more you see it …

Without opening up previous years games on my ps5 in this year it's just showing me one season and it's "2021" even tho it's this years stats. If I look on the show website my universal profile doesn't even show up... Maybe because I use my profile set to private where people can't message me in game?
Im about to play a ranked game with all lefty Kershaw boosted team so good chance I earn my 2nd loss soon lol. I haven't played since the Monday before Christmas too

In my mind, I only care about being above .500. I don't know why, but I do.
Since I'm not a "World Series" level player, I never run a "God-Squad". I load up my team with players to accomplish another series of goals (i.e. Hits with SS, HR's with OF, etc). If I run into a player like you who has an insane record, yes, I'll quit (but NOT in a BR game. I never quit BR games, as I'm always working the program).

That's actually how I do events. I usually load up with a squad to complete a program. It's fun and stress free
I legit get sweaty palmed playing ranked before I even play. It makes no sense. Each year I say I'll make a run at world series but it's not really fun even if I win
I feel like the event is often fun i just wish it was a 9 inning game opposed to 3.
Id prob like playing in a league but I don't think I can join one while I'm working and be available enough

I find myself caring more about my BA with players for some weird reason. Not sure why. Im 57-17 this year in ranked and have played that mode way less. I don't like the unexplained anxiety playing ranked gives me. I've enjoyed playing the Casual multiplayer mode recently. I'm surprised at how easy im finding games in there. Seems a "tad" less sweaty in there.

i'm 58-9, but i only want to be better than last years record which was 135-40. I also havent played Ranked that much because there is SSOOOOO much to do. its hard to do it all. But yes record does matter as long as i'm getting better.

I am 89-17 in solo ranked, 705-118 in BR, and 576-86 in events for a total of 1370-221 in online play this year. I’m 5635-38 vs the CPU.
I care more about my record reflecting how I feel I performed than what anyone else thinks about it. In that respect, I would say my 38 losses vs the CPU is easily the most annoying. I did not get outplayed by the CPU 38 times. But if you play enough on HoF or legend difficulty, eventually you’ll get a game where input is entirely irrelevant to the outcome because the CPU won’t get anything other than XBH or foul balls.
At the end of the day, when 25 launches, no one (including you) will care about any of it and it’s not worth obsessing over. Literally no one else actually cares. Yeah, someone may quit a game quicker over it, but they’ll forget you exist by the time they wake up tomorrow. It doesn’t impact anything. It doesn’t carry over.
If you know you’re not really a 42-0 player because it’s all on all star against people you should beat, it’s not an impressive record because you’re the only one that cares and you know it’s not.

Yeah that's all well and good, nobody cares, that's fine...
But that doesnt help me not get nervous playing ranked. It doesn't make the games less sweaty than the other modes.
For something more constructive then just "nobody cares", I played exclusively with a all lefty lineup and pen in ranked with the intent of trying to care less... And THAT kind've worked, a little bit more than trying hard with a god squad... And my armpits are still sweaty... Meanwhile playing other modes or games... No armpit sweat

@ref479ode_PSN I look a the previous years on the old games, which I still own …
