@sbchamps17_NSW you’re just a regular ray of sunshine, aren’t you? The new game comes out about 100 days and you still want them pumping out mind blowing content.
-
They did new content into January or February for last year's game with alot of finest cards while this year is [censored]

While I appreciate that new content is still arriving the issue becomes that these captins card and the Tucker card more specifically should have been released in April. The Hyper series hasn't seen a new card since June?
The way you lose engagement is when the audience you are trying to engage with loses the ability to understand your direction and reason for doing things. SDS lost their direction and reasoning for how things are done this year in a big way. I have very little faith that in 2025 the can swing the pendulum back to the old style of content and understand the reasoning behind content

The captain content being released isn’t really for the player base. Some (but not all) of the player base gets surveys they can fill out and provide feedback on that gets aggregated together and rarely seems to have follow through or changes because of.
Content creators get direct email communication from actual people to provide feedback and their feedback has largely guided the changes being made. Like, you can go back to 21 and 22’s VODs from later in the year for larger streamers that also do YouTube and hear them complain about the fact that 99s only get released after the player base already drops off and therefore their debut videos for those cards don’t perform well. Sets and seasons didn’t come out of no where in 23; it was their attempt at giving them the 99s at the start of the year, as they asked for, when it would perform better. The content creators didn’t think through the ramifications that if you give it all away in the first month, everyone is definitely not sticking around for the ninth month because it’s the ninth month of the same repetitive thing. But SDS gave them what they wanted, no matter how predictably stupid it was.
These drops allow YouTubers to make new theme team videos a few times a week to release. They aren’t intended to actually get anyone excited to turn on the game. Some of them will be used more than others but it’s mostly just whatever stuff.
I might sound cynical but there was a hard shift in 22 to relying on content creator feedback instead of the player base and every year since 21 has been worse than 21 because of it. At some point, you’d hope SDS realizes that and stops the practice. I don’t hate content creators but being able to make people laugh isn’t the same skill set as having critical thinking skills about designing a video game. Let them entertain people, but keep their feedback to being as worthless as any other random player.

It shouldnt really surprise anyone at this point. Nothing about this years content has been similar to past years. All year long, people in here have been saying the same [censored]. "This is it? This is all we get? Not even a (insert wanted reward here)? This content sucks..."
Its less than a week before Christmas.

@RealPudgyPanda_PSN Nothing would get you excited if I read your post right … Both captains are actually nice … IF you like to build teams to play online. If you just want to play god squad games, the the drop is bad …

Please remind me of the great content we got in January and Feburary last year? I don't pay a lot of attention in those months so maybe I am just not aware of them but searching the web it looks like their last big content drop was in December for Season 6.
Their own website shows that Dec 21st was the last update which was season 6 and the forever programs.
I found one youtube video that showed that they released a Pack with 2 new 99 cards on January 5th
99 Keith Hernandez
99 Tim SalmonThey also added a 15 card collection at the time that rewarded
99 Kyle Seager
99 Brian RobertsI did not see anything for February.
So what was the content you mention?

Part of the issue is finest released earlier last year.
But thats really only a small part of the issue. They didnt even release a Finest program this year. Or a Finest pack. Or a single Finest reward from any other game mode, just the TA, holiday handouts, and the exp track.
On top of that, the forever track is a dud. There is no 'forever wonders' equivalent (yet). Of course there was no wonders in the first place.
They finally did add a forever miniseasons sort of, but I bet 95% of the players dont even know it exists yet
In the place of a more robust year end package we got the juiced packs with most prior pack cards now available in show packs. Honestly thats a net win for most people in terms of faster access to cards they don't have, but the lack of goals to work is going to get some people to log in less
Which also isnt necessarily a bad thing. Refresh for 2025.
I can't give them anything but an F for the Finest drop, it is unforgivably bad compared to last year. The release of the moonshot miniseason does help the overall forever package though and signals maybe they arent quite done yet.

What's funny is that I was going to spend $40 to get the game again and start a new account; so I could start from scratch and have something to play.
But since I can't get any of the prior Moonshot Common pitchers, they gave in packs, along with a handful of other cards; I decided to take that $40 and buy Madden.
I'll try to play the occasional H2H game, in MLB, here and there; but most of my time is being spent playing Madden.

While 2023 has far more unobtainable cards I feel its a far better experience to start from scratch with, unless you want to reliably find online games off peak.
