I was curious just how many less earnable cards we are getting this year vs last, so I checked through Father's Day

    Topps Now:
    2024 48
2023 115 (including 10 flashbacks and 5 captains halfway after 2 weeks of June)

    Monthly/Season Awards:
    2024 15
    2023 34 (includes 4 captains)

    "Other" Programs, excluding starter
    2024 27
    2023 47
And that 47 excludes WBC and Mexico, which are no longer available and were the two biggest programs
The biggest program in 2024 is 7 cards (Spring Breakout) which would have been the smallest program at this point in 2023

I know some wont mourn the loss of what is perceived as 'mid' cards (and I don't think 2024 has particularly higher card quality than 2023), but cards shouldnt be cut in half just because they dont fit on god squads. The Monthly Awards in particular were usually very useful and caught new joiners up fast.

The other cards did fit on theme teams, if only we had last years amount of earnable cards with this year's captains.

Its a shame how much the game has regressed in this aspect this year, its driven me to go back and play 2023 again. If 2024 was my first glimpse of DD I would have definitely left already and not gotten hooked like I did last year.

Not to mention that each (of 5) TA last year gave us 120 cards while this year looks like 90x3. So that's 600 in 23 vs 270 (probably) in 24.

At the very least Topps Now should have captains. These are lower cards in general so why not?
