How do you pitch when this game is just HR derby
-
I've given up 10 runs the last two games on 8 solo HRs and a 2-run HR.
Even when I'm ahead in games I don't have fun because I know all it takes is one inning in this game and that lead is gone. It feels like I'm playing 18 again where anybody can hit a HR on any pitch with practically any swing. We wanted to get rid of all the lineouts but I don't think making EVERY one a HR was the way to go. I seriously can't remember the last time I gave up a run that wasn't via a HR...
-
Wow idk I can’t even buy a hit lol
-
As soon as you can catch up to the fastball this game becomes WAY too easy...which is why you see the inflated numbers. Just lost 7-6. We both had 12 hits but literally HALF of his hits were HRs. He had 6 and I had 3. At that point skill goes out the window and it's just who gets the right roll of the RNG dice at the right time
-
I went back and looked at my last 4 games
1st game - I scored 4 runs, no home runs. (My opponent scores none)
Second game - I scored 5 runs, no home runs. (My opponent scores 3, all on home runs)
Third game, I scored 4 runs, One of those runs came from a solo shot. (My opponent scores 5 (Three from a three-run home run)
Fourth game - I score one run, no home runs (My opponent scores 2, one on a solo shot)So altogether that's 14 runs for me, only one run from a homer.
My opponents scored 10, 8 from home runs.TL:DR, the home run rate was sort of high for my opponents, but for me, a lot of runs don't come from home runs, so it's not always a home run derby.

I feel like at launch it was more of a HR derby than it is now, I don't know what to say because everyones experience is different, I do give up home runs, but I also give up RBI doubles and singles, probably at a higher rate than HR's to be honest.

Sorry...I didn't realize my point didn't apply to a four game sample from your specific experience and therefore holds no general relevance. That's my bad.
Also lol at the fact that your opponent scoring 80% of their runs via HRs is only "sort of high"

So your two game-specific experience example holds relevance?

At one point I looked at my 5 most used SPs and 5 most used RPs and they were giving up HRs on 33% of the hits they surrendered. That's so astronomically high I don't even know what to say haha

I mean, that was my two most recent games. At one point I looked at my 5 most used SPs and 5 most used RPs (by innings pitched) and they were giving up HRs on 33% of the hits they surrendered. That was based on the entirety of my usage with them so I'm not sure how to do more than that haha

right now the meta seems to be power, all I see is power guys in peoples line up so thats obviously a factor, I also think quirks are active for online play which I honestly believe needs to be shut off, its certainly not helping the gameplay issues we are seeing IMO.
In the end this is what people wanted all last year, a lot of people complained about line outs and not enough HR's, eventually they will find a balance they always do, it just takes awhile.

But you said that my 4 games don't have relevance, so how can you claim that, "well my two games matter". Mine was literally my four most recent games. What's the difference? What makes yours matter, but mine not?
And if you want to go the most used route, here are my top 3 SP and RP
SP 1 - 21% Home runs
SP 2 - 19% Home runs
SP 3 - 23% Home runsRP 1 - 8.6%
RP 2- 29.6% (By far my highest)
RP 3- 21.9%For comparisons sake, in RL Gerrit Cole had a 20.4% rate
Ken Giles had a 13.8%So while the RP seems to definitely be way higher then RL, the SP I have seem to fall right in line with guys in RL, so it isn't some astronomically high number.

Here's a link to the post I wrote out: https://forums.theshownation.com/topic/5437/a-breakdown-of-my-pitching-thus-far
I used NL numbers since we don't use a DH in this game. Last year NL pitchers gave up HRs at about a 16% rate. If I remember right Cole was one of the leaders in HRs surrendered so that's an iffy comparison to use. If we look at the entirety of the NL, we see that 5/6 of your pitchers are above average and a couple of them significantly so.
-
SDS took that whole, we want it realistic to heart. Just like MLB, all HR's and strikeouts lol. Unfortunately, just like MLB's deflating viewership numbers, that is no fun.
