New Ballplayer skill set

When I create a new ballplayer, he always has the complete skillset of my current ballplayer. Can I prevent this somehow? I would like to start with a player without all the skillsets and perks, i.e. when I play the game for the first time.

No, you can't prevent them from being available. You can simply choose not to use them.
