I disliked Showdown, but

Just completed the Team Affinity showdown and for a hitting-challenged player like myself it was no problem. All the stages were on Veteran and it actually played like that.
In the past Veteran in Showdown played like HOF and maybe even Legend with the diving catches, perfect/perfect easy outs - SDS' way of sticking it to the customer. Lets hope this continues - playing level as advertised.
-
Over the years I've gotten used to playing on Allstar, HOF, and a sprinkling of games on Legend when i reach WS more than Rookie and Veteran.
In previous yrs showdown, the difficulty level was more difficult than the setting. This yr I didn't fail one showdown I've done. That's likely bc the pitch release Is bugged. I'm more patient this yr simply bc I know the cpu will throw alot of balls.
Instinctively, this fact alone is why I've been more selective with my swings against the cpu. When sds fixes the bugged out bad pitching release, I'm guessing showdown will be a little more difficult again.

I've struggled with my Timing this season bad. I thought it might have been because it's the first time playing on PS5 (I got it after I'd pretty much quit playing '23) But even on my PS4 I struggle all the same.

@GixxerRyder750 do you play on a monitor or a tv? i'm not a great hitter by any means, but I did switch from a small TV to a gaming monitor and have had lots more success.
-
TV's, and I'm sure that would help, but I played on TV's for all other iterations of the game and didn't have the issues I've been having this season. Like, I swing at what seems like decent timing and the feedback will show the ball already crossing the plate before my swing begins to plane out. And it'll be that real late animation you'd get if you like waited to swing at the last possible second..

I’m probably way off here but that almost sounds like your tv isn’t processing the signal fast enough and what you’re seeing with your eyes and reacting to may be slightly off from where the consoles processor says the ball is. I mean you’ve been playing for years and I tend to lean in favor of what your muscle memory is telling you.
Please understand that I’m not trying to say that you have a crappy tv at all. I play on a tv too but I have also noticed the time i hooked to my sons gaming monitor I hit a whole lot better than what I do on my big screen.
Just throwing the guess out there and I really think I’m not articulating my point very well but I hope it makes sense

Nope I know exactly what you're saying cause I feel that's what the issue is too sometimes, but they are the same 2 TV's ive had for years so that Variable in the equation has stayed the same which is what baffles me. LOL But I did notice that my PS5 pops a notification saying it won't match my TVs HDR settings but I discovered the PS5 Default was 1440 where my TV is 1080p. Once I changed my PS5 setting to only go to 1080p, I quit getting that pop up.

The ‘Kentucky windage’ version of one potential attempted fix would be for you to try advancing your timing by whatever you perceive it to be off by - start your swing just a bit early lol I know that’s much MUCH easier said than done if not impossible actually but if you could pull it off with any kind of consistency it sure would be interesting to know the results

FYI, I got this straightened out! Somehow with the PS5, my TV wasn't staying in Game Mode when I turned it on like my PS4 did. Went in and double checked to see it was still on my normal TV Viewing mode. Changed it...made some tweeks to the brightness/color and now i'm no longer 4 days late on every fastball! LOL. Similar thing with my other TV that the PS4 is on. Made some Brightness/Gamma adjustments and it's much better! Never would've thought it wouldn't have saved the Game Mode setting...

Outstanding man. That is quite interesting and good catch too. Maybe I should check mine just to be sure lol
