Showdowns are very hit and miss. Seems like you are either good at them or not. I myself fall in the not category and at this point avoid playing them if at all possible as they are not worth the frustration. I play the game to have fun and relax not to get stressed out or irritated. The sliders are maxed out on showdown and difficulty means nothing.

They're usually easy for me but I lost to verlander on the west showdown season 4. Haven't tried since . I'll give it another try soon. I usually load up on guys with speed . And the common cards I always drop the guys with low speed and get guys with good speed and bunting . Get the cheese bunt perk . Exit velo after 7th perk .
Bunt cheese until you get runners on 2nd and 3rd.
It works for me about 95% of the time. -

I load power and contact with common speed on the bench. Rally time, Wake up, and Exit Velo After 7th are the perks I use. I honestly am not that great at bunting so i’d probably fail anyways. -
Patience is the key. Wait for your pitch. Take a break from the mode or playing if you fail twice in a row.
Never go in with the mindset I’m going to blow through this. You’ll fail. I find it relaxing if I take my time.
I’ve had my frustration with it this year and advice in these forums helped for sure. I finished every one except extreme, yet finished the program.

Struggling big time against Felix...Got passed him once and immediately lost to Riveira. I normally have no problems against Bautista vs. CPU, but his funky delivery seems more prominent in the showdown. Hopefully commenting on it will allow the Showdown Gods to let me pass like the Moment Thread. LOL.
