Broken base running and AI logic

Why in the world does it take so long for a base runner to turn around if you accidentally send them and try to send them back. I understand they can’t stop and turn around right away but good lord it takes 2+ seconds for them to turn around it’s so unrealistic and looks so stupid. And can someone tell me why I can’t throw a runner out at first base if there’s a hard line drive to the outfield. I know it’s rare and doesn’t happen often but the AI in this game is beyond dumb.

I can answer the last part. The casuals in this forum complained enough that they removed it completely. Kind of like why you play an outdoor sport with zero wind.

Yea i understand you can’t please everyone but you literally took out an aspect of the game. Again I understand it only happens a handful of times but it’s a video game it’s not meant to be real life lol.

In regard to the baserunning, that was actually an intended decision. You see, there are a lot of cheesy kids in this community who had mastered the art of baserunning to the extent where they would never get caught in a pickle because the fielding and throwing animations are just so much slower than the baserunning animation. So they would send a guy, you throw it to let's say third base, they'd send the runner back to bait you and you get caught in an animation that gets them safely to third base every single time. So now if you round the base, there is gonna be a delay where you will get punished for not following through. I understand that the connection can sometimes mess it up for you, which will send a runner around the base unintentionally, but hey this is SDS we're talking about. They can't even fix a stamina glitch.
Same with base stealing, I don't know how it is this year, but you used to be able to send the runner back immediately if they got a bad jump. People were able to cheese their way into a stolen base every time by being able to go - send back - go - send back pretty much without penalty until they're either safe at 1st or end up stealing the bag. They combatted this by adding an animation that the base runner slips and slides when you send him back to 1st, meaning you have to go if you decide to steal.

It’s probably nearly impossible to fix something they didn’t think someone would even try and do. I bet you can also slide DH Ohtani onto the mound and eliminate the DH which doesn’t hurt you since he’d be the pitcher hitting and probably have the same bug occur.

Exploit. People would turn around and go back mid steal lol when they didn't get a good jump. Kinda ridiculous

I just threw a runner out from RF, it was a hard hit single with an exit velo of 101mph, I didn’t try to dive with the 2nd baseman. I don’t know what made the 1st baseman cover the bag. First time I’ve seen it since last year

That’s crazy. Usually you need the dive. Maybe you had that rare 1% hit that would’ve been a possible out so he covered first accordingly.
