Line drives need to stop hitting the pitcher

I hit Randy Johnson dead center in his backside (and I do mean perfectly centered if you catch my drift) and it went right to 3B where I was thrown out immediately. He might not have shown it, but it had to have smarted. I bet he caught grief about it from his buddies afterwards ala Wreck It Ralph

Do you happen to be related to a certain bird that no longer exists and are you in the business of payback?

Pitchers are hit by liners or have behind the back catches almost every game in real life. Average exit velocity and launch angle make it a highly likely outcome, which is why we see it so often in both MLB and DD.
Just seems like this would be a likely response here.
Lol

Which baseball league are you watching, because it clearly isn't MLB. I have cranked 110 MPH line drives off of pitchers throwing hands and they have picked up the ball and thrown me out and stayed in the game.
In real life that pitcher not only would not be doing that, they would be riding in an ambulance to the hospital pondering what they would be doing now that their career is over.
I once hit a pitcher in the forehead so hard that it bounced all the way back to the catcher on the fly for a free out. He stayed in the game until being pinch hit for later. In real life he would be dead.
That is the other problem with pitching "defense". If you nail him, he either picks up the ball and you are out, or it bounces directly to a fielder, and you are always out 100% of the time.
I know that isn't what happens in real life, or it would be all over the internet as a "highlight". It happens at most, a couple of times a season, and the pitcher usually ends up on the DL. I have never seen it happen where the pitcher throws you out however.

What’s this gotta do with the poor pterodactyl? Just messing the wife blames it on bad acid but I tell her no way it wasn’t bad at all.
PS I said “Wreck it Ralph”, not ”UP” bahahaha

Hahaha boy you got that right! I did the same to Al Leiter last year in the showdown with the same result. The best part was during the replay in slow motion watching his eyes perfectly follow the ball’s (despite his back being turned) trajectory both to and from his head haha. He totally would’ve been dead…

It was complete sarcasm. That’s why I put “Just seems like this would be a likely response here.” These forums are full of people defending odd quirks of the game, so I was trying to make a joke, but I obviously didn’t do a very good job.

Hey brother, I for one certainly caught it, which is why I added my story about Unit’s bruised stink star. Seemed relevant….at the time teehee. For what it’s worth you pulled it off the humor way better than I did/do

Thank you for clarifying. Yes, there are too many people that defend this game regardless.

I just assumed that bird Randy Extinguished might have a had a cousin who sent you in for revenge- mob style. But I guess it’s probably like Fight Club….oops I mean baking class.
Ps- Bunny man would actually be a could hitman moniker.

My gosh that flew over my head with such alacrity that it probably left a dent on the wall behind me. I get it now haha man I got a good laugh out of that

This is one area that I agree with the complaint . Irl hard shots up the middle are rarely fielded by pitchers .
-
They should add the Randy bird strike as a 1:1000 inning event w him as an Easter egg, kinda like Brady high giving air in Madden, but then PETA would probably complain.

Ooh I like this idea! Might be a fun moment sort of like “Duck Hunt” mixed with MLBTS!
-
Lol just happened twice in an inning

I just gave Pirates pitcher Roansy Contreras a full frontal lobotomy with a liner off his left temple from the bat of Corbin Carroll! The best part was, as the ricochet took it towards the 1B side of mound, the pitcher then switched roles and took of shambling like a zombie to try and cover the base….against Carroll! That one’s going into my video vault for sure..
PS and if anything ever ‘shambled’, it was a zombie

Oh dear it wasn’t Carroll after all…it was a bullet off the bat of Jackson Holliday hahaha forgot I snuck him into the bottom of my lineup. That’s a hot card and powerful lefty…man I bet that smarted
