Are stub sales pointless for us?

I’d like to get excited for stub sales, but the price of cards seems to skyrocket when there is a stub sale. I think flash sales on packs are more exciting and worth the hype. Anybody else?

Buy the stubs and hold them for two weeks.

Basic Economics. More stubs available; higher prices.

- Stock up on high value cards before the stub sale.
- Wait for prices to peak a few days into the stub sale and cash out. You should also sell off any cards you have that aren't locked in which you don't card about.
- Wait a week or two and buy back any cards you actually want.
Profit.

I refuse on principle to shell out real money to buy stubs. Unfortunately, the game this year is not making it easy to earn them in anything remotely resembling a speedy fashion. It's taken me weeks grinding to just get to 60,000 stubs. And if you're playing Ranked, Event, or Battle Royale, it limits the time you have to do other things that might earn you packs. Of course, packs theoretically provide an opportunity to get valuable cards, but my experience this year has been problematic. I think out of the dozens of Dynamic Duo packs I've gotten 1 valuable card. And out of hundreds of regular packs and Ballin' Is A Habit, I've pulled 3 expensive Diamond cards. Everything else has to be bought, and I haven't had the stubs to buy much.
