Not sure which mode you are talking about but in most cases you would control the runners so wouldn't you be holding them at 2nd?

I’m talking about DD any non player locked mode against the CPU. I’m not sure about online because I don’t play that enough. I’m holding L1 the whole time and the game will automatically hold the runner from rounding second and going to third. It doesn’t do it every time but probably like 60% of the time. I hit one to the power alley at Polo Grounds, with Cedric Mullins, and it held him at second.

And when it does it I can’t override it even though I’m holding L1.

Not sure what the deal is.

Check your settings you might be on assisted which could be causing the overrule

    This game IS anti-triple offline.
Every stadium has kangaroo turf, where a ball will bounce way up high, on the fly, like b-i-r-d in the s-k-y, into the stands for an auto-double. Why???🤪
    Every.
    Single.
    Time.
'But I needed that triple for the Cycle'
    Game:' Sorry, my son.'

You can still tell them to stop and honestly I’m having bigger problems with them thinking they can get a double, triple or go home and get out by a mile

Switch to classic/buttons baserunning, and tap X to control the batter running, then tap d-pad left to send him to 3rd. Can then just tap d-pad up anytime if you think it’s only a double.

Switch between runners by tapping X, O, tri, square.

    Avoid L1 at all costs.

There is no better baserunning interface than classic.

But, isn't L1 supposed to advance the runner? By suggesting classic, are you saying L1 is broken? If so, shouldn't it be considered a glitch.

I've had exactly what the poster is complaining about happen to me going from 3rd to home more times than I want to think about. It's as if the AI is saying, "nope, we can't let you score".

It does advance the runner, but there are two issues with using L1:

    1. You have to hold it down to round a base. If you release it just before or just after, the runner’s efficiency is disrupted or worse they just plain turn around.
    2. When there are multiple runners L1/R1 is just a crapshoot. Classic buttons allows you to control each runner individually.

An example is a sac fly to left with bases loaded; you only want to send the runner from 3rd. Press square, tag him up and as soon as the catch is made, press d-pad down, then triangle, d-pad up (return runner on 2nd), circle, d-pad left (return runner on 1st). Then press square again, ready to slide into home if necessary. If you’re using L1/R1 getting that run to score is not fun.

The reason I suggest classic and not sticks is that with classic you don’t even have to look at the screen (unlike pointing with the stick), it’s all muscle memory.

I can have bases loaded and literally within two seconds of my batter hitting a base hit have all four runners going where I want and can make adjustments on the fly to each one as necessary.

Trust me, once you get used to classic buttons you’ll never use the bumpers or sticks for baserunning again.

Imagine base running wrong and then making a topic about it. Golden

i know exactly what you are talking about - against the CPU - stupid [censored] missions which have CPU runners preventing you from running to the next bag - yes it is stupid as hell

while we are on the subject too - what is with that Topps Now Heany moment - strike 3 guys in the side - ok EASY AS A CONCEPT - except SDS puts a 99 RUNNER ON FIRST BASE - so besides trying to K out the side, I have to wonder if my mission is going to tank because the runner STEALS AND GETS PICKED OFF

    [censored] dumb stuff

That's not what I'm talking about. I mean in a Play VS CPU, Conquest, or Mini Season game. I hit something that would most likely be a triple and hold the L1 button (advance all) and the game will automatically hold me at second to keep me from going to third. I swear it happens like 60% of the time.

ok well then i have 0 clue what you are talking about - my frustrations come from the stupid offline grind CPU players who hold you back from running bags on missions - also the other moment i said with SDS putting a 99 runner on 1st when the mission is to strike out 3 ppl in an inning
