Quick pitch

Just curious is there any way to stop the quick pitch? I know there is r2 and rt, but I'm talking about trying to pause. I want to warm someone up or change runner or hitter, but can't when the quick pitch happens when I'm spamming start and the up button on directional pad to pull up quick menu.

This is very annoying, as I get older and need a few seconds between pitches now I understand the people that complain about this. I guess I’ll hold R2 to take that second, my reaction time is not what it used to be. I’m declining fast

CPU is the worst offender lol, it dont stop me but I have to hit down to step out.
